Review & Swatches: Benefit High Brow Glow

Friends, do you remember Benefit Mr. Frosty? It was a chubby, frosty pearl white highlighting pencil that I was OBSESSED with. Not just a little bit, but I mean A LOT. If they still make the darn things, I can’t find them anywhere—but I guess it doesn’t really matter since I stopped wearing it once I realized that maybe it was just a little too frosty. And let’s face it—I’m not exactly very young anymore. Frost anything + more mature skin/eyes = not a good look. The point I’m getting at, is eventually I switched out Mr. Frosty for the matte pink of High Brow to highlight my brow bone and it looked about elevent-y billion times better on me. I wore it down to a nub, and for some reason started experimenting with other ways to highlight my brows without repurchasing. So many beauty products…so little time!

Fast forward to 2012; there’s a new High Brow in town! It’s called High Brow Glow, and it’s a softly shimmering champagne pink shade that has just the right amount of pearl without looking overly frosty. Yay!

More photos, details…

I like to add a little under my brow bone close to the arch, and then a little bit on top. (Make sure to lightly blend!) Light brings features forward, and darkness recedes, and High Brow Glow falls into a category of luminizers. The before & after photo below isn’t really good for showing you a more defined, higher arch—but you’ll be able to see the frost-factor. I feel like my eyes just look alive when I apply a highlighter, which is why I almost never leave home without some kind of luminizing product on my face. (As long as it’s not overly frosty.) Pearls are great for me, icy frost is not!

Since this is champagne pink, I think it will also look super flattering on a variety of skin tones—so don’t be afraid to try it out. The shade is neither too warm or too cool, and I love it. Do you usually highlight your brow bones? What do you use?

Bottom Line…

This is the perfect champagne pink that’s not too shimmery for the brow bone—it blends easily, and wears pretty well all day. Try adding a little bit to the bow of your top lip, and just a touch on the inner corners of your eyes too for more contour.

I use high beam or the lightest in my palette-it looks great but I need no more highlighters lol.

  • Amber

@Caitlin Benefit has a great range of them, and High Beam is one of the best!

Looks fabulous on you! I must look for this. I am currently coveting Sun Beam by Benefit – just like you said here – perfect amount of shimmer.

Thanks, Lindsay! I swoon over Sun Beam too :)

It’s pretty, but Seems unnecessary. What makes this any better than a light, shimmery eye shadow??
