Unless I’m wearing a BB cream, foundation primer is an absolute MUST for me, so I kind of consider myself a primer connoisseur, of sorts. I’ve tried inexpensive ones, expensive ones, color-corrective ones, you name it. I’m an equal opportunity pore minimizing and mattifying primer user. It seems like the ones that work best for me are all priced in the middle of the road, like this new one from Too Faced, Primed & Poreless Pure. This one is a little bit different than their existing primers, and here are the deets!
Primed & Poreless Pure is an oil-free dimethicone-based primer, that contains a combination of ingredients that Too Faced says are skin soothers for those with sensitive skin. Of note, I see a bark extract, Vitamin E, and alba flower extract in the ingredients. To be completely honest, I don’t really know if their ‘Sepi-Calm’ complex will make a difference for those with sensitive skin. I didn’t experience any irritation issues from these ingredients, but everyone has sensitivity to different things, so I can’t offer much of an opinion one way or the other when it comes to this. But I like that they’re offering this as an option in their growing collection of face primers.
The ‘Pure‘ version of Primed & Poreless is a clear silicone gel, where the original has a little bit of a flesh tint to it. Since this is silicone-based, it provides the same kind of slip that most other silicone-based primers have. (Like Smashbox Photo Finish, Bare Escentuals Prime Time, etc.) Because of that ‘slip’, I often have the issue of the primer beading up and rolling around on my skin while I apply it, and it’s so frustrating! Good news to report here, no beading up and rolling off occurred with Primed & Poreless Pure. Major kudos, Too Faced! Even better news, this primer does a fab job of keeping my evil excess oil production issues at bay for several hours before it’s time for a tiny touch up. Primed & Poreless Pure gets thumbs up from this primer junkie.
Bottom Line…
I’m a fan! This keeps me matte for as long as most other primers I’ve used, and it doesn’t bead up and roll around while I rub it in. On my combination skin with enlarged pores, this evens out the texture and makes my foundation stay put all day! I do still get some breakthrough shine a few hours later, but I’ve yet to find a product that keeps me flawlessly matte from sun up to sundown without having to touch up at some point during the day any way. This wore well underneath both mineral foundation and liquid.
