Aside from a clear lip balm with SPF, you’ll find my own personal handbag loaded down with lip glosses! I have some that are more pigmented than others, some that shimmer, and some that really shine…but now I have one in there that really shines and shimmers! I’m currently coveting one of the new Mighty Shiny Lip Gels from the Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics Summer 2012 Collection, in the shade Unveiled. There are seven shades available, and I had a sneak peek at two of them…let’s check ‘em out!
Mighty Shiny Lip Gel applicator
The applicator is great; it’s hard plastic and has a slant that allows you to squeeze the product through. What I really like about it is that it’s almost impossible to remove too much product at once. You know how some tubes just keep on dispensing product, long after you’ve stopped squeezing? This one has almost like a vacuum function, where whatever is left in the chamber ends up going back inside the tube so it doesn’t ooze out or make a mess.

Stripped
Unveiled
The two shades I tried had lots of shimmer to them, with Stripped even having flecks of opalescent glitter in it. These don’t feel gritty on the lips at all, and actually feel and look incredibly glossy. Stripped would make a great gloss to place over a lipstick to give it a patent-shine effect. While Unveiled has more of a pink gloss to it, it doesn’t pack a ton of color, but it’s still a nice neutral that anyone can wear.
Aside from just being gorgeous glosses, these do have a functional skincare effect on the lips that left mine feeling pretty hydrated. They contain:
- Momordica Grosvenorii Fruit Extract — known as the “Longevity Fruit”; rich in powerful antioxidants to fight free radicals and slow premature aging.
- Jojoba Seed Oil — emollient source of Vitamin E; especially beneficial for chapped, dry skin.
- Meadowfoam Seed Oil — conditioning agent that revitalizes thirsty lips.
- Sweet Almond Oil — rich in oleic and linoleic acids, proteins and Vitamin D to soften skin.

Bottom Line…
I really enjoy the way these feel on my lips! They’re very moist and comfortable, and leave a glossy glaze behind. I’ve only tried two of the shades available, and my rating is based solely on those two shades—they would have scored higher had there been more pigment to them (and if the price point was a little lower). But still, the Mighty Shiny Lip Gels are a nice gloss to wear! I look forward to exploring Youngblood’s extensive lineup of products in the near future.
