As part of Milani’s spring releases, you’ll find this new mascara as part of their product lineup at drugstores nationwide. Total Lash Cover Mascara is a non-clumping and long-wearing formula that didn’t make my lashes feel brittle—and one of the most important things—it didn’t flake. Some hefty claims come along with the specialty brush however, as it promises to multi-task. So let’s take a closer look!
More photos and details…
The brush is really interesting, and quite eye-catching—I was pretty fascinated with it myself. (I know, I know, it’s just the colors!) Split into three zones, the brush is supposed to define, build, and curl the lashes. The bulk of the brush is in the middle, while the ends are slightly tapered. There a small, yet flexible plastic comb attached to the bristles, but I think in order for this to really separate as intended, it needs to have more teeth—and closer together. It did an okay job at separating, but I feel like it could have done much better.
The before and after photos…
Currently, Total Lash Cover is available in one shade, black. The black is a very deep black, which I really like. So many times, basic black mascaras can almost look a little brown. (Or they’re not blue-black enough to make much of a difference on the lash.) So kudos to Milani on the color.
In order to avoid clumping, don’t apply the mascara with the comb side down on the lash for the initial swipes.
Bottom Line…
While I wanted to like Total Lash Cover more than I did—for the price, this isn’t a bad mascara. It really delivered in the lengthening department, but I couldn’t get as much separation as I would have liked. The very tip of the brush made it a little difficult to avoid placing too much on the ends/outer corners, but I was able to work it out. If you’re on a tight budget, this could be a good fix for you, considering CVS often places Milani on some very good sales!
