Review & Swatches: Benefit Ultra Plush Lip Gloss in Coralista, Sugarbomb, & Dallas

I’ve long had a love affair with Benefit’s many shades of their famous boxes of blush. Back in the day, I went through boxes of Dallas and Hoola, and I’m currently enjoying wearing Hervana and Bella Bamba! Benefit is banking on us feeling the same about their new Ultra Plush Lip Gloss formula, in shades that correspond with all of those gorgeous face colors. I’ve checked out three of the six that are officially launching next month, let’s take a closer look!

Shades:

  • Bella Bamba — sheer bright watermelon
  • Dandelion — soft pearly pink
  • CORALista — sheer coral
  • Hoola — shimmering golden nude
  • Dallas — dusty rose
  • Sugarbomb — shimmering pinky nude

(I should note, the glosses do not come with the matching blushes (but what a cute set those would make). They’re photographed together in this post for illustrative purposes.)

Swatches…

Coralista, Sugarbomb, and Dallas (matching blushes to the right of each gloss)

Okay, so they’re not quite exact matches of their box o’ blush predecessors. At least the three that I tried aren’t! But…they’re still very easy to apply, and are forgiving shades on many skin tones. There’s a very subtle fruity fragrance to them, but after a minute, I don’t really smell it much, nor can I really taste it. That should be welcome info to fragrance phobes! Dallas was definitely the most pigmented of the bunch, but that intensity starts to break down with the warmth of my lips.

Despite lacking the pigmentation I would have LOVED, Coralista will likely find a spot in my handbag, along with my several other on-the-go lip glosses I’ve stashed in there. I don’t even have to look down in there at this point—I just dig my hand in the bottom of my purse, and out comes a glossy treasure that practically matches everything! Because these are so sheer, they’ll likely match everything easily for you too. Great job on the texture, Benefit!

Bottom Line…

While these make my lips feel very soft and pillow-y, I really wish these had more pigment! How amazing would a very pigmented Bella Bamba or Coralista lip gloss be? I’d go nuts for them if that were the case. What saves them for me is that they’re super shiny, and they’re not even a hint sticky!

Benefit should get an award for eye catching packaging, because this brand always gets me with that lol. I’ve also had a love for their blushes, but the cheek tints and I got mine in the mango tango one which looks scary orange at first glance, but goes on with a nice shade of sheer mango but it’s great for building up for a splash of colour.

I LOVE the look of Sugarbomb. I too like my glosses to be pigmented so that’s a bit of a shame. :-(
