Review & Swatches: NYX Tango with Bronzer Powder in ‘When a Leopard Gets a Tan’

Are you a bronzer girl? I am SO pale—that this time of year, bronzers are absolutely essential if I want to get with it. I love getting spray tans during this time of year too (mainly for my Casper-lookin’ legs), but I’m not too keen on spraying my face. So when I do my makeup while the rest of my body has a golden glow, I have to use a powdered bronzer so I don’t look too strange.

NYX Cosmetics has an incredible line of bronzers that will knock your socks off, and they will not break the bank. (This one is just $10!) I don’t have all of them to show you, but I do have a few of them that I’ll be sharing over the summer. This one is their Tango with Bronzer Powder, and it’s available in five color variations. My favorite was this cutie pie here, ‘When a Leopard Gets a Tan‘! It’s an all-in-one bronzer, blush, and even has a little sheen for highlight. Let’s check it out!

This is a full-size compact that opens and has a mirror and application brush underneath the compact itself. I’m not too crazy about the brush—but let’s face it. I’m never too crazy about the brushes that come with products so it’s definitely not something I’ll fault NYX for!

Swatches left-to-right: swirled and applied with brush that is included in compact, then applied with an eyeshadow applicator on right

As you can see, there’s not the slightest bit of orange in this. The blend of peach, pink, and tan tones can really be amplified like the swatch on the left, or you can concentrate on the lighter tones like on the right. Of course you’ll need a smaller brush for that—and during application (for the photos below) I used a tiny fan brush to pick up more of the peach and pink tones.

Just a little bit of ‘When a Leopard Gets a Tan’

A heavier application of ‘When a Leopard Gets a Tan’

As you can see, this is a super versatile palette, and I’ve applied it both ways. I don’t have a spray tan right now, so I’d definitely go with the first look for now, but I could see myself going darker next week when I get crazy with a self-tanner!

Bottom Line…

For $10, this thing rocks! If there was one thing I would change, it’s kind of powdery when you swipe a bronzer brush across the product. So just be mindful of some fallout in the compact and all will be well!

I really like NYX products. I use their blush in Pinched religiously. Its the closest I’ve seen to Nars’ Orgasm and only $5.59. I will definitely be trying this one because I need a good bronzer
