In July, you’ll start to see Tarte’s fall collection for 2012 hitting shelves in stores, and these are pretty wild! While there’s more where this came from at other retailers, here’s your sneak peek at two of the products you’ll find exclusively at ULTA.

Call of the Wild consists of two limited-edition pieces that will be sold separately. One is an 8-pan eyeshadow palette featuring the Amazonian Clay eyeshadow formula. The second is an Amazonian Clay waterproof gel eyeliner, which also comes with a dual-ended brush that makes application pretty easy. One end is bent, and the opposing is straight. So whatever your preference, you’re covered!
This palette is detailed and eye-catching. The packaging itself has a glossy, patent-like black shine on the front and back—and the rest of the palette is a textured animal print. It’s definitely nice quality and I think it’s pretty well-constructed. Unfortunately I haven’t had this very long and I haven’t had the chance to use many of the shadows—so only time will tell how well this stays put together. On a positive note, it seems quite sturdy and not flimsy at all. I’m happy that Tarte also included a decent sized mirror—as sometimes in palettes, that simple (yet important) feature is overlooked.
- Row 1 — Jungle, Meow
- Row 2 — Call
- Row 3 — Wild, Instinct
- Row 4 — Lynx
- Row 5 — Roar, Primal

The second piece in Call of the Wild is a black gel-like waterproof eyeliner with the Amazonian Clay formula. In all honesty, this seems to be the same formula as the regular Amazonian Clay emphasEYES Waterproof Liner—but I can’t tell for sure because mine have all expired. Going off of memory, this black seems a little more glossy than the black one I’ve had in the past. But please don’t hold me to that! Hopefully the swatch below will help you. If it is the same, the only main difference would be the limited edition Call of the Wild packaging and special brush. It certainly is cute! I can tell you from past experience that I favor the Amazonian Clay liners, because they really stay put and give an intense pigment payoff.
