Review: TRESemmé Split Remedy Haircare Collection

For almost a week, I’ve been testing a few products from the new TRESemmé Split Remedy haircare collection, which promises to repair up to 80% of split ends in just three uses. Pretty big claims! Once an end is split, you can’t really permanently fuse it back together—but with products like these, you can temporarily ‘mend’ the cuticle of the hair, which disguises a split end. I honestly didn’t think it could perform as promised, so I put it to the test. I have very fine, dry, and brittle hair, which always feels like it’s working against me. I also just happen to have plenty of split ends, so I’m a good candidate for this! Let’s chat about the five core products in the Split Remedy collection:

  • Split Remedy Shampoo & Conditioner
  • Split Remedy Conditioning Spray
  • Split Remedy Conditioning Treatment
  • Split Remedy Serum

First up (of course), are the Shampoo and Conditioner. It was love at first whiff! The fragrance had a nostalgic aroma of apples and melon, with a touch of honey. Little did I know that the olfactory treat was just the start. With a foamy lather, the shampoo smelled so good, that I really enjoyed using it. After rinsing, I followed up with the conditioner, which I left on for several minutes and then rinsed.

The next step of the collection is a leave-in conditioning spray. After towel-drying, I applied the Split Remedy Conditioning Spray, and my comb whipped through my hair like a breeze. Usually, my overly processed ‘do resists combing post towel-dry, and I experience some tugging. I felt this really helped out in that department.

But…

The true test was when I tried the Split Remedy Conditioning Treatment on my daughter’s gorgeous locks (which she clearly did not inherit from me). Again, no resistance—the comb zipped right through what’s usually a tangled mess. That makes both of us happy!

Last up is a styling/finishing product, the Split Remedy Serum. I was initially concerned about applying too much product and that it would make it look like I needed to take wash my hair all over again! The texture is so lightweight, that it surprisingly didn’t weigh down my wispy tresses at all.

The Results…

My split ends were on good behavior while using the Split Remedy collection, and my hair just felt more healthy and compliant. Not a bad combination!

NEW Split Remedy, from TRESemmé, repairs up to 80% of split ends in just three uses.  And with continued use, repairs further damage as it occurs.

Are these safe for color treated hair, do you know?

It doesn’t say either way, Beth! Kristin (who reviewed these) actually has bleached hair which is totally different since she doesn’t really have color to lose in that case. But you have a very good question! I can’t seem to find an answer.
