Review & Swatches: OPI Germany Collection for Fall/Winter 2012

In anticipation of the arrival of fall, OPI will release 12 new shades from their Germany Collection in August. Suzi and the gang created these shades to mirror the return to texture in fashion as the temperatures begin to drop; think velvet, beadwork, and faux fur. After checking these out all morning, I now want spiced apple cider and a cozy cowl-neck sweater! I have a long way to go (it’s in the nineties today), so it looks like the only things I’ll be cozying up to are some of the darker shades of Germany by OPI, and my cats for the time being instead!

“Designers showcased rich colors and striking textures for fall,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director.  “The GermanyCollection beautifully complements these looks, with standout shades in various hues of red and burgundy – the season’s ‘new black.’ Sapphire, black olive and lime yellow are married with creamy neutrals in honey, taupe and nude rose.”

Swatches…

(2 coats each)

My Very First Knockwurst is a rosy-nude creme.

Schnapps Out of It! is a ginger-mauve shimmer.

Nein Nein Nein! Ok Fine! is a dark olive-grey creme.

Suzi & the 7 Dusseldorfs is a shimmering bright purple.

Every Month is Oktoberfest is a bold, shimmering plum.

German-icure by OPI is a deep, shimmering burgundy.

Don’t Talk Bach to Me is a lime-yellow shimmer.

Don’t Pretzel My Buttons is a honey-beige creme.

Deutsche You Want Me Baby is a shimmering red-orange.

Danke-Shiny Red is a shimmering ruby shade.

Berlin There Done That is a dark taupe creme.

Unfor-greta-bly Blue is a shimmering sapphire blue.

Bottom Line..

There are some real standouts in Germany by OPI, with a great selection of bolder fall shades and a few muted neutrals. The overall feel of the collection seems a little bit more reserved, yet boasts some stronger jewel tones to break the collection away from being too ‘safe’. I love the fiery brilliance in Every Month is Oktoberfest and German-icure by OPI.

Price & Availability…

Germany by OPI will be available August 8, 2012, at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA, for $8.50 ($9.95 CAN) suggested retail for each Nail Lacquer.

From the bottle pictures I was expecting to love the jewel toned shades the most, but for some reason Nein Nein Nein! Ok Fine! is my favourite! Unfor-greta-bly Blue is calling to me too :) Great swatches as usual!

Thanks, Jenn! I’ve sat here staring at the cremes for a few minutes now, I can’t believe how much I like them.

Beautiful colors! I picked German-icure, Oktoberfest, and greta Blue.  (I like picking my colors and seeing if we match at the end) :P

Nein Nein Nein! OK Fine! and Deutsche You Want Me Baby are great names but the color selection isn’t doing anything for me. I think I’ll sit this collection out.

Nice job!… but I’m dying to know how Nein Nein Nein! Ok Fine! compares to Zoya Noot

Oh jeez, I’m not trying to pimp my own blog or anyone else’s, I was just showing that someone did a comparison. You’re being kind of ridiculous.

  • Pink Pamalamma

Wow, seriously? I’m obviously not trying to pimp my own or anyone else’s blog. I was simply showing that someone else did a comparison. Get a grip.

Sorry if it upsets you, it’s nothing against you–it’s just a policy. I was just letting you know why your link didn’t appear but that I appreciate you sharing.

  • Pink Pamalamma

Lame. It’s not even my blog, or anyone’s that I know. it’s just a comparison picture of the two polishes. It’s nail polish for goodness sake! Lighten up! You obviously don’t care about your readers getting the information they crave. This is one blog I won’t be reading again.
