Review: It Factor Quick Blowdry Shampoo & Conditioner

I know I’ve said this on the blog before, but in this case, it bears repeating. I am a former hairstylist that absolutely loathes blow-drying her own hair. I dislike it for a few reasons—one of them being that I’m just not coordinated enough to twirl a brush in my own hair enough to make it look professionally done. The second reason—time. It takes me 15-20 minutes, of standing in my 100 degree bathroom, breaking a sweat, just to have a fresh blowout. I’ll do anything I can to get myself out of that situation! So if you tell me there’s a way around this (aside from spending $35 at Drybar), I’m all over it.

I’ll admit, I had my doubts about this—but enter It Factor Quick Blowdry Shampoo & Conditioner. It Factor promises that by using their shampoo and conditioner in tandem, you will cut your blow-dry time by up to 50%. So maybe it wouldn’t solve my dexterity problems, but it would solve my timing problems, and I gave it a go. And you know what? It worked like MAGIC. My 15-20 minutes was cut to eight minutes. Less time holding a blow-dryer up to my head and sweating in my bathroom? Sold. (In full-disclosure, I have fine hair, so your time may be longer depending on texture!)

The magic behind this is a proprietary VaporBoost System, that’s exclusive to It Factor. Mark Stiller, the creator of the line (and beauty industry veteran) grew tired of waiting for his wife to blow-dry her hair and decided there had to be a way around this tedious process. It Factor reduces the attraction between hair and water, which allows the water molecule to evaporate faster during the blow-dry process. Wah-lah! A faster blow-dry is born!

Not only can I speak to a serious reduction in my drying time, but I can also say that it’s a great product that leaves my hair shiny, bouncy, and soft. With two formulas (one for fine hair, and one for medium-to-coarse), It Factor is free of harsh sulfates, parabens, alcohol, and sodium chloride—so it’s safe for color and chemically-treated hair. Oh! And I can’t forget, I love the fragrance—it reminds me of fresh pears.

Bottom Line…

It Factor really worked for me by providing serious reduction in my blow-dry time, but is a little on the pricey side. Good thing—a small amount is all you need.

Price & Availability…

$22.50 for each shampoo and conditioner—professional salons & beauty supplies nationwide. (See salon locator here.)

I wonder how they do it? I also hate blow drying my hair as I do it EVERYTIME, and it’s so not one of the things in life that I look forward to. This appealed to me, but then I’m not sure it would be for me since I bloy dry mine is sections instead of all over at once so not sure it would make much of a difference for me. I blow dry each side section for 3 minutes and then the top part for about the same. So all together, it takes me about 10 minutes. And yes, don’t you just love sweating while doing this task? Now, if only they could come up with a blow dryer that straightened your hair at the same time, I’d be good as gold because that my friend, is so tedious.

Wow! Going to have to try this new product, it takes me 25 minutes to round brush my hair, would love to even shave off 5 minutes! Thanks for the review

5 minutes should be easy to knock off!

Very cool! I’m going to have to keep my eye out for this. I’m curious as to how they’ve made it work, and if it might dry out my hair over prolonged use? Cute packaging.

From my understanding, the R&D team made it possible for the water molecule to shrink faster when it’s hit with a blow dry blast. I’m sure there’s a much more detailed explanation than that, but that’s the best way I can describe. As far as damage–I’ve been using it almost 2 weeks and my hair feels hydrated and my color hasn’t pulled. I have to move on to other products now for review–but I will be keeping this in my rotation until it’s gone! I will say that the conditioner is SUPER hydrating, and concentrated you really should use the smallest amount. When someone told me that, I was yeah–right! But it was true!
