Literally fresh out of my mailbox is the latest from Benefit, officially launching in September! The Perk Up Artist is a palm-sized complexion corrector palette with three hues for neutralizing, brightening, and concealing skin discolorations.

This baby is only coming in one universal shade, so you’ll need to mix and blend to your heart’s delight to get the coverage and tone you need. At first when I looked at it, I thought it was Lemon Aid, Boi-ing, and Eye Bright—but I honestly don’t think it is. I currently don’t own a Lemon Aid to confirm this, but I will say that this yellow seems much deeper and feels WAY creamier than I remember Lemon Aid being. And in regards to the brightener, this feels and looks nothing like Eye Bright in my opinion (aside from being pink). The concealer on the other hand may or may not be Boi-ing. I’m trying to confirm! I’m not 100% on these facts, but I have a huge hunch and these products just feel texturally different to me.

(I’ll update here as soon as I get confirmation either way!)

While not a full review, I will say I’ve played around with this a tad and I like the way the products together feel on my skin. And while not super convenient, I did find it easy to match my skin tone by dabbling in all three of the shades together. This will likely work best on light and medium skin tones—but if you’re creative, I don’t see why it couldn’t work for others. Even if you don’t have a lot to conceal, these shades will work to create contour.

I love how Benefit comes out with little nifty kits. The lil’ plastic lids almost remind me of pill boxes.

I think you’re right about the Lemon Aid.  Mine looks much lighter and not as creamy as the swatch looks.  This does look like a great palette for my light skin, but the downside is…I hate having to custom blend! That’s just my own laziness issue.  I’m sure the product is great.  Confessions of a Concealaholic and Erase Paste are two of my (almost every day) go-to concealors.

Thanks so much for confirming, Ann! I’ve got a message in to Benefit just to make sure!

It cracks me up! I feel like he should drive a van with shag carpeting in the back.

The people who design their packaging are the best!

I could see where it would seem creepy! It reminds me of photos I’ve seen men in my family in the 70′s and early 80′s. While I’m a little bit older, I vaguely remember this was quite the popular (and cheesy) look!

I’m so lazy- I just want to put on my face fast and without blending.

I am quite interested in this, and will be getting it. The reasoning is because I use yellow correctors to cover up the redness on my face. Would you say this would last the average person a while? What would the “brigten” one be used for?

The wells are .05 oz each, so they’re pretty small. If you’re someone who would use this every day, I’d imagine you’d run out much faster than if you had a full size of your concealer and a full size of a yellow color corrector. I think this price here could be a little high, but it’s all about the convenience factor. The brightener is awesome! I love it on the high points of the face. Above your brow bones, even on your brow bones, in the middle of the bow of your lip, the outer corners of your eyes too. Great for optical illusions of contour and brightening!

I feel like that a lot too, Aleya! Each day, I pick my makeup battles! HAHAHA
