When I first received the preliminary information and images for the new MAC Styleseeker Collection several weeks ago, I thought, “Now THIS is what I call fall!” Full of warm, richly pigmented hues, Styleseeker is home to gorgeous pieces for all to embrace fall with, no matter what’s your pleasure. Like a bold eye? Check. An opaque, full color lip? Check. Eye liner in brilliant tones? Check. See what I mean?
M·A·C interprets a vivid fall colour collection in tones influenced by the spirit and style of a global wanderer. Translucent, buildable, Powder Blush adds glow. Eye Shadow Duos create brilliant, sultry effects punctuated with Fluidline. Classic Mattene Lipstick is revived for dramatic, dense colour that lasts for hours. Lipglass gets fresh flair in new shades, and Nail Lacquer in jewel tones and metallics extend the opulence to the tips of the fingers.
While the collection contains an assortment of four eyeshadow duos, four Fluidline shades, five Mattene Lipsticks, four Lipglass shades, three Powder Blushes, and three Nail Lacquers—I have a few key pieces to share with you. So keep in mind, that when you visit your local MAC counter, you’ll be amazed at just how much MORE there is to love for those in love with fall color!
MAC Styleseeker Collection Eyeshadow Duos in Culturalized, On The Hunt

The eyeshadow duos I tried out were shades that were unfamiliar to me with the exception of Brulé in the Culturalized duo. Brulé (creamy beige satin) was probably one of the first MAC eyeshadow shades I’ve ever owned, so it will always have a special place in my heart. I’m reading in the blogosphere that the second shade in the duo (Retrospeck) is only vaguely like its original self in texture and pigment payoff. Since I’ve never owned Retrospeck (mid-tone gold lustre)—I have no issues with this version. Quite frankly, I think it’s gorgeous and it wears well for me. Had I owned it the first time around—maybe I might find some fault!
The second duo I gave a test drive, was On The Hunt. These shades were much too red for my skin tone, but pretty nonetheless. On The Hunt contains Raving Mad; a bronze-red frost, and Star Myth; a bronze-violet veluxe pearl. I got a little more fallout with Raving Mad than I would have liked, and thought it was a little difficult to blend—but in all honesty, my forte has never been in eyeshadow application/blending. There are just some shades I’ve never been able to master, and red tones are some of those shades!

Mattene Lipsticks in Delectable, Fashion Nomad
I’ve got to give credit where it’s due, and in my humble opinion, I think the Mattene Lipsticks steal the show in the Styleseeker Collection. The color selection is brilliant—don’t miss Eden Rouge, a fantastic bright blue-based red. I wish I had it to share with you! (Vampy Varnish has gorgeous photos of it here.) I tried Fashion Nomad (bright red-orange matte), and Delectable (orange-beige matte).
These things GLIDE across my lips and feel so comfortable, giving full coverage in a single swipe. I don’t find them to be terribly drying, but it’s usually the case with full coverage mattes. These were a little drying, I will say that. In terms of length of wear, I needed a touch up with Fashion Nomad after three hours because the shade is so vibrant that it’s much more noticeable when you’re missing any on your lips. With Delectable, I just let it go for about four hours since it faded to more of a fleshy beige tone. I LOVE the Mattene formula and would own many, many more shades of them.

Ready To Roam Lipglass
With four shades of Lipglass in the collection, I tried Ready To Roam, which actually was my favorite compared to the remaining three. It’s a true blue-based red with the tiniest specks of shimmer. I tried for over 45 minutes to photograph this on my lips and for some reason, my camera/lighting combo was making it look just too pink, but the swatch below is pretty darn close. This is another case where I have to depend on a fellow beauty blogger for her fab photography skills, because Kelly at Vampy Varnish has an accurate photo of Ready To Roam on her lips, here.
Ready To Roam has a nice texture to it that’s nearly creamy—it actually feels a little different to me than my other Lipglass shades. I do recommend this one!

Worldy Wealth Powder Blush
There are three blushes in Styleseeker, and I checked out Worldly Wealth. While not a great shade for me personally, I can say that it’s packed with pigment and a pretty, shimmering peach-bronze frost finish. It was not only buildable, but also easily blendable.

Styleseeker and Gadabout Girl Nail Lacquers
With three polishes in the collection, I feel fortunate to have had access to two of them! I hear the one I’m lacking (Mean & Green; purple with teal duo chrome) is gorgeous. Let’s check out the other two…
Gadabout Girl is a blackened plum creme, which is that perfect vampy color I look forward to each year when temperatures drop. The only problem with this one however, was how streaky it looked after two full coats. I was bummed, and added a thin third, which made it all okay. I know for some people, they don’t even like having to take that road—so that may be a determining factor if Gadabout Girl will be coming home with you. I could see this one being a problem in the streaking and balding department.
Styleseeker is an orange-red duo chrome, and I love it! It reminds me of changing leaves. Two coats worked perfectly, and leveled nicely. I had no complaints about this one at all, and I recommend it! I will say however, I have not tested length of wear on either of these MAC polishes.
While I haven’t tried the entire collection, there are some pretty pieces here that will help you transition into fall. I’m probably most impressed with the Mattene Lipsticks, so check them out! They’re available in five shades—even though I only have two of them to share. The Styleseeker nail polish shade is also a fave of mine.
