Aqua Cream devotees will likely rejoice this season with Make Up For Ever’s new Black Tango Palette. This stunning piece for fall contains four new jewel tone shades of Aqua Creams in a sleek palette, embellished with lace and inspired by the passionate art of Tango dancing. After a trip to Argentina, Make Up For Ever founder, Dany Sanz created this bold palette based all on the eyes, since Tango dancers always want their eyes visible, no matter how far away the audience may be.
In case you’re unfamiliar, Aqua Creams are pigment rich, waterproof creams, that can be used as liners or eyeshadows. (A few of the core shades have been approved for use on the lips and cheeks, too.) Combined with shimmering mother of pearl particles, Aqua Creams are luminous and incredibly long lasting shades that don’t crease or smudge. They set very quickly, and last all day (or night)! I’m already a fan of the formula, and have several shades of Aqua Creams in my personal collection, so I was very excited for this release.

Each shade is housed in a small plastic container with flip-top caps. You’ll want to make sure to make sure each lid is shut securely after using your palette, as the Aqua Creams will dry out quickly. The shades are new in this limited edition palette, and each shade is 0.05 oz. They’re pretty small—but they’re mighty—and it doesn’t take much to create an intense effect since they’re so pigmented.
There aren’t shade names or numbers, but here’s a brief description of all four shades:
- shimmering blackened red
- shimmering blackened green
- shimmering blackened sapphire
- shimmering ivory
The beautiful thing about Aqua Creams is that they are great for multi-tasking. You can wear them as eyeliners, alone as shadows, or even as bases for shadow application. They’ll kick up pigment intensity for anything you place over them, and they won’t migrate since they’re waterproof. The palette also features a mirror with a pretty scalloped lace border, it’s a nice detail which makes this palette that much more stunning. Also included is a double-ended nylon bristle brush for easy application. These are pro-quality shades, and are very intense!

This is a gorgeous palette with four new vibrant shades of Make Up For Ever Aqua Creams that won’t budge. These shades may not be great for makeup novices, as Aqua Creams tend to set very quickly, and you may have difficulty blending the darker shades as eyeshadows. But they’ll surely make FANTASTIC cream eyeliners and bases to help you switch up your eyeshadow collection. If you’re new to Aqua Creams, I highly recommend them—but you may wish to start out with them by owning a few singles of the lighter, neutral shades first if you intend to wear them solely as eyeshadows. (My fave is #13, it pairs nicely with everything!)
