Review & Swatches: Stila 'In the Know' Eyeshadow Palette

New for fall, Stila just released this striking eyeshadow palette with 10 matte shades, and one of their famous Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliners. The In the Know Palette is its name, and velvety pigmented shadows is its game! Stila has been releasing these seasonal 10-pan palettes for awhile now, and I can honestly say—In the Know has the most pigmented shades of the palettes I’ve tried in their 10-pan lineup.

These warm mattes can be worn wet or dry, but in all honesty—I wasn’t nuts about them wet. I don’t think there was anything truly wrong with the shadows when they were wet, but I felt like the matte colors took on an almost pearly finish after I moistened them. That could be a great thing for some, but it just wasn’t for me! That would make it a great value for anyone who wants that versatility, because at $39—this palette is a deal.

For anyone who is anti-shimmer or glitter, this will be a fantastic go-to palette for sure, but keep in mind…these shades are VERY warmly hued. Fall is usually about those warm hues, so this is right on trend. If you’re looking for cool tones, this one won’t be for you. In that case, back up to one of Stila’s past releases, the In the Moment Palette! It’s got cooler tones and is still nice for fall. (Especially if you rock that gorgeous jewel-toned purple with a pale satin shade to blend.)

In the Know is a mirrored palette which comes with a small ‘get the look’ book, and a full size Smudge Stick in Halfmoon. Their Smudge Sticks consistently score very high in the beauty blogosphere due to their pigmented finish, creamy texture, and long-wearing abilities. So this is a score!

Bottom Line…

A matte lover’s dream! These are surprisingly very pigmented, but can be a little powdery if you load too much on your brush. Make sure to tap the excess off and you’ll be in great shape! I think $39 is a great price, too.
