It’s all about the pretty for this legendary screen siren…
I’ve always found Marilyn Monroe fascinating. There’s just something about her—and I’m not sure if it’s the blonde hair, red lips, or milky skin (maybe even the combination of all three) that makes her so timelessly gorgeous. MAC pays homage to this stunning screen siren with the new Marilyn Monroe Collection that officially launched this week. It’s a pretty comprehensive collection, and while I don’t have it in its entirety to show you, I do have a few key pieces you should really check out! So, shall we?
Pieces from the MAC Marilyn Monroe Collection
This feature focuses primarily on the color collection of lipsticks, large eyeshadows, powder blush, Dazzleglasses, and a Beauty Powder. I’ll be sharing four of the nail lacquer shades in an upcoming separate post, so keep your eyes peeled!
UPDATE: You’ll find the review & swatches for the nail lacquer shades here!

Eyeshadows—Preferred Blonde, How To Marry, Silver Screen
The large eyeshadows are available in four shades:
- How To Marry — soft white veluxe pearl
- Preferred Blonde — pale champagne beige veluxe pearl
- Silver Screen — true silver veluxe pearl
- Showgirl — dark blue grey veluxe pearl (not pictured)
Well, you can’t win them all, right? Sadly, all three of the eyeshadow shades I tried were so similar in color payoff, I could barely tell the difference between them. They’re really kind of sheer, but offer a pretty twinkle if you don’t mind a little frost. While these may not be for me on a personal level, they’re all sold out on the MAC website, so they’re definitely for a lot of other people!

Lipsticks—Pure Zen, Love Goddess, Charmed I’m Sure, Deeply Adored
Lipstick shades available:
- Pure Zen — frosted warm nude Cremesheen
- Scarlet Ibis — bright orange red matte (not pictured)
- Love Goddess — mid-tone pink red satin
- Charmed I’m Sure — dark true red matte
- Deeply Adored — deep scarlet matte
I’m most impressed with these lipstick shades from the collection! With the exception of Pure Zen, these shades give beautiful full coverage. I don’t find them to dry my lips, which is usually the case for me with highly pigmented lip colors. Even though I think all of these shades are stunning, it’s almost like Love Goddess was made for me!

Dazzleglass—Phiff!, Little Rock
Phiff! Dazzleglass
Dazzleglass shades available…
- Phiff! — sheer yellow peach frost
- Little Rock — soft sheer white with pearl frost
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but these are actually the first Dazzleglass shades I’ve ever tried. I love the way the formula feels on my lips. It has just the right amount of tack to stay in place, but not so much that it’s overly sticky. I love Phiff!, it makes my lips look like there are thousands of tiny stars dancing on them. You could layer these over lipstick shades, but you’ll saturate the wand/brush with the color. Use a separate lip brush if you want to layer, so you don’t make a mess of your pretty Dazzleglass!

Powder Blush in Legendary
Powder Blush shades available:
- Legendary — pale soft coral satin
- The Perfect Cheek — natural pink beige matte (not pictured)
I am absolutely head over heels for Legendary! It’s such a flattering shade for a variety of skin tones, and it looks so soft once it’s blended. It’s almost as if it gives a lit from within look, minus any shimmer. It started to fade about 3/4 of the way through the day, but I did have a good run with it.

Beauty Powder in Forever Marilyn
This Beauty Powder in Forever Marilyn is another MAC first for me. I’m still trying to get it right, but this sheer peach highlighter does look pretty when placed on the high points of my face. I suppose you could also wear it all over or as a blush for a brightening effect, but darker skin tones may want to err on the side of caution during application so it doesn’t look chalky. Definitely use a fluffy brush in that case, and use a light hand!
