Review & Swatches: ZOYA Ornate Collection for Holiday 2012

Ornate is jewel-tastic…

Ladies (and maybe even a few gents), I am going to spare you the pleasantries and long intro. The ZOYA Ornate Collection for holiday 2012 completely ROCKED MY WORLD once I started layering it on my nails. These two coat wonders are absolutely stunning, and I would be SO surprised if you come away from looking at these swatches without wanting to buy at least one of the shades. In my case, I’m really torn on favorites, but I think you might agree that there’s a real winner among this group of incredibly impressive shades. Whether it’s foils, holographic shades, or glitters you fancy—you’re definitely covered.

Electra, Ziv, Storm

Ziv is a golden-blonde foil with silver and gold glitter flecks. This one may seem similar to other holiday golds out there this year, but I really think the true foil base sets it apart. This rich gold was opaque in two coats.

Storm is a black with super-fine holographic diamond micro-glitter. Please believe me when I tell you how much more special this is in-person! It’s like a starry night on your nails, and is full coverage in two coats. Due to my application error, I dragged the brush a little harder than I should have in a few spots and you may see a little bit of balding. This formula seems a little watery and thin with one coat, but does cover well with two coats—so please don’t let that scare you!

Logan is a captivating forest green foil with greenish-blue and yellow gold duo-chrome shimmer. I love ZOYA’s foils, and this is another testament as to why!

Aurora is a real treasure! This purple leaves dreams of sugarplums dancing in my head, with super fine holographic glitter that really glows. I spy purple, plum, and maybe even a little pale pink hologram shimmer in there. However fantastic you may think this looks in photographs, I implore you to get it on your fingers! Great flow as always with ZOYA, and two coats are perfect.

Blaze is a cool mulberry with diamond holographic micro-glitter. The flow is nice and even, and the glitter lays down smoothly on the nails. I love how fiery this one is, and as your hands move, you’ll catch brilliant plum, purple, and red glimmer.

Electra has silver holographic tinsel bar glitter in a transparent base. I thought it would be difficult for the glitter to lay down on the nail in a good amount, because I’ve had plenty of issues with similar polishes in the past. I found Electra to deliver a considerable amount of bar glitter in two coats.

Okay, time to fess up and tell me your faves!

Bottom Line…

This is a strong and solid collection for holiday, and don’t tell anyone—shh! But I think it’s actually my favorite nail polish collection of the season. I can either take or leave Electra since bar glitters usually aren’t my deal, but believe me, I’m not mad that it’s there!
