Review & Swatches: Too Faced Glamour To Go ‘Spun Sugar Edition’ for Holiday 2012

New for holiday from Too Faced (and there’s much more where this came from), you’ll find the most adorable Glamour To Go compact—the Spun Sugar Edition. This totally vibes with Jerrod Blandino’s holiday theme of “Love Sweet Love”; inspired by a trip to France, and seeing couples walking arm in arm on the Champs-Élysées. So sweet!

Glamour To Go Spun Sugar Edition is a pocket and purse friendly mini palette with eight eyeshadows, highlighter, lip gloss, and a bronzer. When you open it up, there’s a generously sized mirror, and two levels of product. The first level contains your eyeshadows, and the second is tucked underneath the shadows. It slides out, and wah-lah! You have your highlighter, gloss, and bronzer.

The eyeshadow quality is what I know and love from Too Faced. The shades are pigmented and smooth, but I did notice that the first three shadows in row one were just a tad less pigmented than the rest of the bunch (you’ll see it in the swatches below). Now—I’m not docking the product for that—because for all I know, it’s supposed to be that way. (But I did want to point that out.) For such a mini palette, these shadows are quite impressive!

(As a side note, if you do not own great eyeshadow brushes, I totally recommend Too Faced’s Essential 3 Piece Brush Set. They’re very affordable, great quality, cruelty-free, and get the job done! They’re the perfect partner to Too Faced eyeshadows, and I use them more often than any other eyeshadow brushes I own. Check them out if you haven’t.)

Eyeshadow shades…

  • Light Gold — antiqued golden shimmer
  • Gold — warm golden amber
  • Yellow — pale gold shimmer
  • Brown — golden brown shimmer
  • Silver — light silvery glitter
  • Light Grey — metallic grey shimmer
  • Dark Grey — cool grey pearl
  • Black — pewter shimmer

The second level slides out to reveal a highlighter, gloss, and bronzer. The highlighter adds a very ethereal golden pink shimmer (try it on the high points of the face), while the lip gloss is very sheer, but slightly golden. If I may make a suggestion—try layering the gloss over lip color instead of wearing it alone. It looks GORGEOUS over nude lip shades when you wear this palette. (Try the La Crème lip colors in Naked Dolly or Naughty Nude.) The bronzer is a medium-dark bronze, which was a little dark for me because I’m super fair.

Bottom Line…

Awesome gift in a small package for just $22! The shadow quality is there, and I love the glow factor of the highlighter.

Thanks for this posting! I’ve been on the fence on if I want it because I wasn’t sure of the quality, but it’s just too cute. Hmm, maybe Santa will come early? :) For that price, that’s really good too!

  • Amber

Yes! Put it on your Santa list :) It’s perfect stocking stuffer size.

I purchased the Shadow Bon Bons, so I’m checking to see what to put on my list for Santa! You always have great swatches!

  • Amber

Yay! I LOVE the Shadow Bon Bons too! If you try putting a little Cinnamon Sugar on top of Framboise, it turns into a GORGEOUS duo-chrome. Thanks for the compliment :) I’m trying to make them better for you guys all the time!
