As part of the holiday collection from Clarins, you’ll find the Eye Quartet Mineral Palette in a new shade configuration, Odyssey. Once you get past the gorgeous motif on the exterior, you’re met by a stunning quad of shades inside; with warm bronze, beige, taupe, and brown mineral-based shadows that can be worn wet or dry.

Sometimes I feel like opening a Clarins product, is like opening a present. There’s the pretty red box, followed by the red velveteen case that protects your golden Clarins compact—as if to say; this is your pretty treasure, now enjoy it! But sometimes (for me), it’s hard because it just seems too pretty! Like the bronze/gold-leaf effect the second shadow on the right delivers. It’s just truly stunning!

The quality…
There’s a little bit of a stiffness and pigment transparency in the darkest shade (third on the right in the swatches), but the rest feel smooth, have great pigmentation, and are easy to blend in my opinion. Going back to my issues with the brown shade—it is buildable, and does work out for me in the end, it just takes a little work to get there. And while the bronze shade is remarkable, it does wear longer and better when applied wet in my experience. If you’d like to pass on wearing it with a mixing medium, I recommend a fantastic eyeshadow primer; and then pat it on, to your heart’s content. That way you’ll get the intensity you desire.

Bottom Line…
A pretty palette, with almost all of the shades performing well. One thing I learned, is that I will never underestimate the power of the Instant Definition Mascara! I know I’ve liked it and used it in the past, but I just felt like it made my lashes go BOOM this time!
