This past week, I’ve been sick—so naturally, everything feels really dry. This was the perfect time to put Maybelline’s new Color Whisper by Color Sensational lipcolor to the test, as my lips have been super parched. Color Whisper is a new lip balm with a gel-based formula that’s more than a little tinted. As a matter of fact—I think you’d be surprised by how pigmented it really is, for feeling like such a lightweight balm.

I’ve been trying out Color Whisper shade Cherry on Top, but it’s available in a complete range of 20 shades. If you’ve been a fan of Revlon’s Lip Butters, you’ll probably like Color Whisper. The main differences would be that Color Whisper is slightly less pigmented and more lightweight feeling on the lips than the Revlon Lip Butters. The Color Whisper formula features pure color pigments, suspended in a lightweight translucent gel, so there’s nothing heavy or waxy feeling. While the product is soft, it’s not so soft that it turns to mush as I glide it across my lips.
Right now, I own one Color Whisper shade, and I really like it—so I suspect I’ll pick up more! (Especially considering my CVS just put out a new display of them, I could kick myself for not getting another one already.) What makes me love it so much, is how moist my lips stay when wearing it, and that the color stays put for up to three hours for me—depending on what I’m eating and drinking, etc.
I’m a fan of these new gel-based hybrid lip formulas, where you don’t have to sacrifice color and shine for moisture. There’s not really any discernible flavor or fragrance, so Color Whisper should be a good fit for most people.
