It seems like everyone is releasing a BB cream lately! Case in point, I just reviewed the new Urban Decay NAKED Skin Beauty Balm yesterday—and I have two more sitting on my desk to evaluate. Believe me, I’m not complaining, because I’m still on the hunt for the U.S. equivalent of my favorite Dr. Jart BB Cream, or at least something close to it. I seem to be getting closer, but still…no dice. For a little bit, I squealed inside—I thought I had found it in Revlon’s Photoready BB Cream Skin Perfector. So what went wrong?
Revlon promises that this will:
- hydrate like a moisturizer
- smooth like a primer
- cover like foundation
- blur flaws like concealer
- protect with SPF 30
Here’s the good news.
I LOVED it right out of the tube! Texturally, I thought it felt the closest to my holy grail-status BB cream, Dr. Jart Premium. (A little bit more dense and creamy than tinted moisturizers.) I was so happy, I just knew I was going to love it. It blends into my skin very well, feels nice and smooth, and it looks fantastic coverage-wise. But…only initially.
DARN!
After about an hour, the coverage totally faded and it looked just like all of my tinted moisturizers. I literally did a double-take in the mirror, because I was so sure it was perfect for me! I couldn’t believe that I started out with great coverage, only to have it dissipate in such a short time.

On the plus side, the SPF 30 is nice, it’s one of the higher levels of protection I’ve seen in a western version of a BB cream. It does prime the skin nicely too, but it really did wind up being just a little more than tinted moisturizer in the end.
I want to say—I still do like this! And I still think many people will like it…but I think I was so hyped up from the positive beginning, that I’m left feeling a little deflated. It wasn’t as BB cream-like as I had thought.
Have you tried this yet? How did it work out for you?
