pieces from the tarte ‘Journey to Natural Beauty’ Collection

This set combines the best of both worlds, with both existing tried and true tarte favorites, and brand new product innovations and shades in a gorgeous woven makeup bag in a colorful chevron pattern.

What’s included:

  • NEW brow architect shaper, liner, & definer
  • NEW lights, camera, flashes statement mascara
  • airbrush finish bamboo foundation brush
  • Amazonian Clay 12-hour full coverage foundation
  • Amazonian Clay 12-hour blush in fearless
  • NEW Amazonian Clay butter lipstick in plummy rose

tarte woven makeup bag

The makeup bag is very generously sized, and has two textured sides. One side is the multi-color chevron print, and the opposite is a woven gold fabric. This is more of a slouchy clutch style of bag that’s VERY roomy, as it folds over to look more like a clutch after zipping.

tarte Airbrush Finish Bamboo Foundation Brush & Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full-Coverage Foundation

The Amazonian Clay 12-hour full coverage foundation is already a favorite of mine due to its coverage and rich texture. The foundation is the only shade choice you’ll make in the kit—so choose from Fair, Light, Medium, Tan, or Deep. In most tarte complexion products, I wear Fair and this is no exception. This foundation is a little bit on the thicker side, almost having a whipped texture once out of the tube. The included airbrush finish bamboo foundation brush is really essential for making this foundation look its best! I apply a few strategic dabs on my face, then buff it in with the brush and it works like magic. The brush is SO soft and plush! It looks like it might be stiff, but it’s still very soft. The densely-packed bristles make the foundation look a little more airbrushed than if you just applied the foundation with your fingers or a sponge.

What I find amazing is how I’m able to get fantastic coverage with this foundation, yet it still feels weightless on my skin and it doesn’t take on any cakey characteristics. I’m usually able to push this foundation to about eight hours of wear without a primer, but it definitely wears longer and better with a primer, like most foundations. I wish that the SPF was a little higher than 15, but hey! I’ll take it where I can get it! It’s not too matte, and imparts nearly full coverage.

Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full-Coverage Foundation in Fair–this is a horrible match for my arm in the swatch, but works great with my NW20 skin on my face.

tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Fearless

If you’re already a fan of tarte’s line of Amazonian Clay 12-hour blushes, then you know all about the excellent pigmentation, range of shades, and staying power of the product. fearless is a new warm pink shade that has a twinkle-factor to it, without looking like glitter. Amazonian clay continues to amaze me with its intuitive abilities to balance out the oils in my skin, and it really comes handy for keeping the breakthrough oil on my cheeks at bay without compromising on color payoff. I don’t have any problems with my blush pulling a disappearing act with tarte’s blushes.

tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick in Plummy Rose

tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick in Plummy Rose

The Amazonian butter lipstick in plummy rose is a new product that’s infused with healthy, hydrating butters for maximum lip hydration. This feels really creamy and comfortable on my lips, and I’m totally obsessed with it! I cannot wait to see if tarte releases more shades with this lipcolor formula; because it’s creamy, nutrient-rich, and imparts great color and moisture. This wears for about 3½ hours before I need to reapply, and has a very slight mint flavor/fragrance. It’s nothing that I find cloying or overwhelming. I’m definitely a fan of this formula!

tarte brow architect shaper, liner, and definer

The brow architect is a new 3-in-1 product that helps shape, line, and define brows. One end holds a brow spoolie for grooming, the opposite holds a slanted brow powder pencil, the center detaches and holds a creamy matte highlighting powder for your brow bone. I love brow pencils that are slanted, because they’re so much easier for me to apply, and make it harder for me to apply too much. Ever see that person whose brows enter the room before they do? Well, I don’t wind up over-doing it with brow architect. The pencil feels a little stiff, so I like warming it on the back of my hand prior to application.

The brow highlighter is like giving yourself a brow lift! Granted, it’s a light-trick, but it works! The brow architect shade will actually automatically correspond with your foundation shade (mine is fair-light), and it almost seems like it’s too warm for me in the swatches. Luckily, like the Amazonian clay foundation, it looks much better on my face than in the swatches below.

tarte lights, camera, flashes mascara

lights, camera, flashes is a new mascara that is like lights, camera, splashes—but this is a more volumizing formula. I definitely think it works amazing for both lengthening and thickening, but I have to admit, I’m not exactly crazy about the brush. I find that I have to work at separation, and that the mascara kind of clumps up on the brush closer to the tip. The brush has two sides; apply it with the shorter, softer bristles first, then rotate the wand to lengthen and separate lashes with the longer, comb-like side. I like the final result, but it did start to migrate after about five hours. Perhaps it’s just not the best choice in mascaras for me personally.

tarte ‘Journey to Natural Beauty’ Collection

Bottom Line…

Overall, this set is stellar! Even if the mascara delivered a few challenges, the collection is a strong offering with both new and existing products in the tarte core line.

    OH! I want everything!

I would be all over this TSV if they would offer it in my foundation shades (Ivory and Light/Medium). I have a cool pink undertone and find Fair and Light are just too yellow. QVC drives me nuts with this!

Love, love, love this!! (heavy sigh) Why can’t I be rich instead of so good looking. Heehee!! (JUST kidding. This is what my husband and I say after paying all our bills and finding out we’re broke again. It helps cut the stress with a chuckle.) :)

eek! I love this set entirely!!! that brow one looks interesting too

  • Susan Lewis

All the Tarte sets on QVC include foundations that are yellow-based. Tarte admitted to me that they will never include their other shades (like my fave, Ivory) that is a better match to my cool-toned skin. That leaves me entirely out of this kit.

  • http://beautyjunkiesunite.com/ Amber

Thank you, Anne! I thought it was a my lips but better shade too! It goes with EVERYTHING!

I thought it was pretty yellow on my arm, and I was SUPER worried, but it wound up working on my face well. I’m sorry they don’t work for you. I agree, it’s odd to only use warmer shades, especially when most fair girls, like myself, have a good amount of pink in their skin. I guess I just got lucky this time!

    Haha! I like your attitude!

  • http://beautyjunkiesunite.com/ Amber

I hear you on that, Denise!

  • http://beautyjunkiesunite.com/ Amber

I love the blush and the lipcolor. So pretty!

I like the brow pencil, but now that I think about it, it seems a little red for me. Hmmmm.

  • http://www.BeautyByKrystal.com/ Krystal Caracol

It’d be good to have if you decide to color your hair a bit redder 😉

  • http://beautyjunkiesunite.com/ Amber

So true! Usually during the summer I have her go a little redder, so I’ll keep it around :) Good thinkin’, Krystal!

Laughing through the bad has allowed us to stay happily married for almost 4 years now. (Feb 28th is our anniversary!) It hasn’t been that long yet, but with three young ones, spending 1/2 our marriage pregnant (we married later in life so got started right away), and money problems it sometime feels like it’s been WAY longer. It isn’t always easy or fun, but we do the best we can to smile and laugh through it all. Life’s too short to take it too seriously. :)
