It’s getting hot in here…
We all know that new MAC collections come fast, and they come furious. And I have to say, it’s been a long time since I’ve paused and been like—WOW—AMAZING! This post has taken me some extra time because I have not stopped dabbling in the new Temperature Rising Collection since it hit my desk. In a single word, I describe this one as “impressive”. Check out the pieces I tried!
Nail Lacquers in ‘Scorching Haute’, and ‘Tropical’
In the past, I’ve noticed some inconsistencies in the MAC Nail Lacquer formula. With Temperature Rising, I really liked the results I had with both shades, Scorching Haute, and Tropical. Both give stunning results with full coverage. The glitter in Scorching Haute looks good with two coats (but great with three), and Tropical looked perfect with just two coats. Unlike a lot of glitters I own, the finish was nice and smooth with my top coat of Seche Vite. (I personally find this one to work best!)

‘Bare My Soul’ Eye Shadow X 4
I have been hesitant to recommend many of the eyeshadow quads in recent releases, because I’ve felt that the quality wasn’t up to par for $44. I am so relieved to say that both of the quads I tried were AWESOME. Bare My Soul was superior in color payoff and wear time, but the Temperature Rising quad ran a close second. I feel confident recommending either as a purchase, because I found the shades pretty consistent quality-wise. There are some slight variances with the frosts, but nothing troublesome. Just a little bit stiffer.
- Bare My Soul — frosted gold (lustre)
- When in Rio — deep green with copper pearl duo-chrome (frost)
- Friendly — deep bronze chocolate (veluxe pearl)
- Romantico — light taupe bronze (veluxe pearl)

‘Soft Serenade’ Lipglass, ‘Caliente’ Lipstick
While neither of these lip shades were for me personally, I’m still going to recommend them if you like the colors, because there was absolutely nothing wrong with the products. We all know I’m a fan of the MAC Lipglass formula itself, for a gloss formula it tends to last on my lips longer than other brands, and the dazzle lipstick formula was fantastic. You would think that for having so much glitter, it would feel really gritty. Not at all! One thing I will say, is that glitter will stay behind, long after the color is gone. So you may need to remove it all with an oil-based eye makeup remover. (That’s what I had to do to fully remove it.)

Powerchrome Eye Pencil in ‘Rich Glance’, and ‘Polished Jet’
This was my first time trying out the Powerchrome Eye Pencil formula, and I love it! These molten metals are super smooth on the lay down, and the pigmentation is excellent. While not completely bullet-proof, I do find them long-lasting and excellent multi-taskers. Wear them solo as eyeshadows, wear them as a base for dry shadows, or use them as a liner, and they’re totally gorgeous. I’m really interested to see the rest of the shades in the collection once they hit stores on the 23rd.

Pro Longwear Bronzer in ‘Nude on Board’
This is, without a doubt, my favorite product of the collection! I’ve never met a powdered bronzer that feels so creamy as I blend it in. True to its name, it does wear for a long time, and doesn’t shift colors on my skin. Nude on Board works well for my NW20 skin, and I like it applied lightly, but it also looks great totally built up. It won’t take much, so go easy! It’s very pigmented. I love the slight sheen it has to it, but doesn’t exacerbate oily skin conditions. Its luminous quality is a great start to refresh spring skin, and will take you all the way through summer.

Strobe Liquid Lotion in ‘Golden Elixir’
As a long-time fan of Strobe Cream, This Strobe Lotion in Golden Elixir is a nice way to warm up skin tones for summer. You can use it solo if you’d like because it softly illuminates and diffuses skin, but since this gives such a warm golden glow, try adding just a touch of it to your liquid foundation, BB cream, or tinted moisturizer for best results.
Since this is so hydrating, I don’t really recommend it for those with excessively oily skin types, as the iridescent pigments may even make oils on the surface of the skin to appear to be more than they really are. You can also mix a few pumps of this with your body lotion and apply it on your arms and legs for a healthy glow! It may not be for everyone, but it is a beautiful multi-tasker.

To The Beach Body Oil in ‘Man Rays’
This hydrating body oil adds a sassy gleam to your body and looks GREAT on medium-to-dark skin tones, or those who have a little bit of a faux tan. The oils blend into the skin quickly, and what’s left is moisturized skin with a golden bronze glimmer. I imagine wearing this out with a dress on a warm summer night, or a shoulder baring sundress all summer long! It doesn’t really have a fragrance, so no worries about it clashing with your favorite perfume.

There are definitely some key pieces you should consider for your collection. I wouldn’t go home without the Pro Longwear Bronzer in Nude on Board, Bare My Soul Eye Shadow X 4, or Powerchrome Eye Pencils. They simply rock.
