NYX Cosmetics is well-known for creating dupes of some of our favorite higher end brands, and they do a pretty great job! Expanding their extensive eyeshadow lineup, is a new collection of palettes in their “Love in Florence” series. This is the Sunsets With Sophia palette, with five warm hues.

For a small 5-pan, I think this configuration is pretty generously sized. Housed in a black palette with a see-through lid (dang, no mirror), the size makes it perfect for sticking inside of a handbag or small makeup bag for travel.

Shades included:

  • shimmering peachy beige
  • shimmering antique gold
  • matte grey-black with gold glitter
  • matte medium brown
  • shimmering warm brown

In terms of product quality, I have to say that this isn’t my favorite NYX palette—I’ve seen them do much better. And this isn’t exactly the worst palette, either. The shimmering beige, antique gold shimmer, and warm brown shimmer are great. They’re pretty smooth for the most part, but the two mattes are actually stiff and dry. I really had to pack them on to get the right payoff after I blended them out. The good news—I didn’t have the fallout issues I tend to have with other less-expensive eyeshadow shades.

Bottom Line…

Nice for the price, I just wish the pigmentation was consistent across all five shades.

I love those shades! I’ve been eyeing the NYX palettes at ulta. I can never decide which one to try! Besides, I get really cranky if my shades aren’t pigmented. Maybe I’ll skip these! Happy Friday Amber! xo

I have a few more of these palettes I’m checking out, so let’s hope this is an isolated incident. NYX palettes usually rock, so I’m surprised. Have a great weekend! xo

I love warm neutral shades. This looks awesome except the black is a letdown

I was really pretty underwhelmed by the pigmentation on this one. If you want really sheer, very similar neutral shades, that’s what this is.

I felt the same way! I have “Ciao Bella” but a couple of the colors are not that great, beautiful, but not great :( I was a little disappointed.
