I’ve got something super fun to share with you—the Maybelline Color Show Polka Dots Collection! Available in stores in July, these new lacquers remind me of a trend I’ve seen made popular by indie nail polish brands. I had truly never seen this until last year, but it’s the jelly “sandwich”. The polish finish usually has a squishy jelly texture, and there are multi-colored and multi-sized glitter particles sandwiched between those layers. It’s a pretty cool effect.
Maybelline Color Show Polka Dots Collection
With Color Show Polka Dots, there are five shades of milky jelly shades (one of them is a transparent base), with black and white glitter floating in the pigments. These are the first polishes I’ve owned like this to date, so unfortunately, I don’t have any dupe information to share with you right now. I just know that the shades I’ve seen like this usually cost at least twice as much as Maybelline’s $3.99 suggested retail price, and these are a little easier to get since you’ll be able to find them as drugstores soon. Ready to check them out a little closer?
All swatches are with two coats of polish. If you apply 3 coats, the “sandwich” effect will be more intense.
Drops of Jade — milky jade green with multi-sized black and white glitter
Dotty — milky orange with multi-sized black and white glitter
Clearly Spotted — multi-sized black and white glitter in a transparent base
Pretty in Polka — milky rose pink with multi-sized black and white glitter
Blue Marks the Spot — milky periwinkle with multi-sized black and white glitter
Maybelline Color Show nail lacquers last between 4-5 days on my nails.
Will you try these new shades from Maybelline out?
Indie nail polish companies made this look popular, but the price and limited availability may have driven you away. This is an affordable way to try the glitter “sandwich” look!
