I hope this makes you laugh, but as I was unboxing the new China Glaze Sunsational Collection to prep it for swatching, my husband looked over and said he really liked the colors. Obviously, he just knows TOO MUCH about beauty in this house, because he commented a second time—hours later, when I was editing the photos. “Ooh, I really like that collection!”
I kid you not.
So this collection is already Mr. Beauty Junkies approved! But will it be Beauty Junkies reader approved? I’ll have to let you decide on that for yourself—but I’m happy to be able to bring you these 12 new shades.
China Glaze Sunsational Collection
Sunsational is like two collections in one. Six of the shades are jellies, and six of the shades are cremes. With that in mind, I’ve broken them down into two sections in the swatches, so you can see what shades are of which category. If you’re not a jelly fan, I urge you to steer clear of those shades in the store, because looks can be deceiving in the bottles. There were a few that I couldn’t even decipher from a creme until application—please keep that in mind and double check if you’ve picked a jelly or creme before purchase.
On the other hand, this is a well-rounded, vibrant, and fun collection. I found the cremes to be dang near flawless! Just my personal preference—I choose the cremes over the jellies, but it’s only because I’m not the hugest jelly lover. (Not because these are bad jellies.)
In terms of consistency however, I do want to note with the jellies:
- Isle See You Later is the thinnest polish of the collection. It may even take three coats before you’re happy with it.
- You Drive Me Coconuts is probably the thickest jelly I’ve ever had. Two coats of it gives nearly full coverage.
- Are You Jelly? gives really good coverage and had the most perfect flow of all 6 jellies.
Each swatch was performed with two coats of polish, and one coat of Seche Vite. (My favorite top coat!)
