Meet Meaningful Beauty, Cindy Crawford

cindy crawfordIt’s not everyday that you get to chat with your favorite supermodel—and recently, that’s just what I did! For decades, Cindy Crawford has been killing it on runways and magazine covers, but for the past few years; she’s been rocking the skincare world with her revolutionary anti-aging line, Meaningful Beauty.

In collaboration with renowned anti-aging specialist, Dr. Jean-Louis Sebagh, they’ve been able to harness the power of a proprietary melon complex, incorporating it into a comprehensive collection of affordable skincare treatments to address the concerns of women (and men), everywhere!

Here, we chat about the secrets behind Meaningful Beauty, get the scoop on Cindy’s favorite beauty product indulgences, and how she’s just like us!

Amber: Obviously, you’ve had a long career in the beauty world, and you’ve always been in the spotlight. Somehow, you’ve managed to age so gracefully and are as beautiful today as you were over 20 years ago! When was the first time you realized that you had to make skincare a main priority? Was it something that came naturally to you many years ago, or was it something you had an expert express the importance of it to you one day?

Cindy: I grew up using baby oil when I would lay out in my backyard with a reflecting blanket, so skincare was definitely something I had to learn over the years. On one of my first jobs for Bazaar, we were shooting in Mexico and I got a little too much sun the first day. The next day, the makeup artist reprimanded me because it made her job harder. I think that was the beginning of me being proactive about my skin. About 10 year later, that same makeup artist told me about Dr. Sebagh. He’s been my skincare guru ever since and has helped me manage my skin as I get older.

Amber: When did your amazing collaboration start with Dr. Jean-Louis Sebagh, and what was the major “a-ha” moment that made you realize that Dr. Sebagh and Meaningful Beauty was really on to something special?

Cindy: The very first time I went to him for his vitamin cocktail, I was hooked. My skin was so dewey and glowy after just one treatment. Because he had been my doctor for over 7 years, it just seemed natural to do a line with him.

mb day creme spfAmber: If a new Meaningful Beauty client could only afford to get started on a single product today, what would that product be, and why? What makes Meaningful Beauty so much different than any other skincare products available today?

Cindy: That’s really tough and so hard to choose just one—but if I have to pick, since I’m pretty pragmatic and dedicated to using SPF every day I’d say go with our day crème with SPF. You’ll get the protection and hydration you absolutely need to have every day.

What makes Meaningful Beauty different from other skincare products is our powerful super antioxidant called SOD, which is found in a rare French melon cultivated by scientists in the South of France. Dr. Sebagh spent a lot of time figuring out how to infuse the melon into the products—so you end up getting a luxurious skincare system that provides both instant and long-term benefits, at a great price.

Amber: Millions of women the world over, would love to know the secret of how you manage to live such a positive, happy life. What’s your philosophy? In the press, you always look so peaceful, balanced and happy! If it’s not too personal, care to share a little secret?

Cindy: The secret is there’s no secret. I’m just like everyone else—I have good days and bad days. I feel very blessed that I have a great husband and children, I like my job and we have a blessed life. I try to be present in every situation—pleasant or unpleasant. And if all else fails—smile!

Amber: Let’s say you’re already wearing your sunscreen and Meaningful Beauty products, and you head out for a lunch with friends, what’s a beauty product you can’t be without? Lip gloss…blush…mascara? What’s your beauty essential?

Cindy: When your skin looks good, you need less makeup. That being said, I usually wear a light foundation—either NARS tinted moisturizer or Jane Iredale mineral powder foundation. I add back in a little color with blush and mascara—I’m into the Lash Stiletto by Maybelline. My friend Sonia Kashuk makes the best brushes and I love her lip color as well. For evening, I add eyeshadow and line my eyes with my favorite Armani brown eye pencil.

Thanks so much for your time, Cindy!
