Too Faced Pretty Rebel Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches

Too Faced Pretty Rebel 1

This fall, Too Faced is taking chances and breaking all the rules with their new Pretty Rebel eyeshadow palette. If loving Pretty Rebel is wrong, I don’t want to be right! This badass palette is home to 10 gorgeously pigmented shades; a few being on the more demure side, while the rest give a rebel yell. Ready to swoon? Let’s go!

Too Faced Pretty Rebel Palette

Pretty Rebel’s exterior has a textured faux gold surface, with raised black straps to give it an edgier appeal than I’m used to seeing from Too Faced—but I rather like it. The palette itself feels sturdy and has a magnetic closure which is pretty standard. Inside, you’ll find a good sized mirror that has a decorative gold stud pattern around it, it’s a cute touch to keep the theme consistent. And for the most important part—the eyeshadows…

Get ready. They ROCK.

To me, Too Faced has always excelled in the eyeshadow department. It’s pretty rare that I find one that doesn’t work out for me–but there’s just that little extra something with these that I can’t quite finger. I think Jerrod really went above and beyond for Pretty Rebel’s shades, because they feel smoother, more buttery, with intense pigmentation in a single swipe. Both with and without eyeshadow primer, performance is strong—but I’m always going to recommend Shadow Insurance Primer so that all of your eye looks can really go the distance. (The perfect brushes to pair up with Pretty Rebel would be Too Faced’s 3-Piece Eyeshadow Essentials Brush Set.)

The shades:

  • Dainty — matte peachy beige
  • Ringleader — peach pearl
  • Charming — matte chocolate
  • Gangsta — metallic milk chocolate
  • Girly — green/brown duo chrome (great MAC Club dupe!)
  • Instigator — metallic antique gold
  • Totally Fetch — metallic fuchsia
  • Badass — metallic sapphire with blue sparkle
  • Miss Sparkles — matte black with blue glitter
  • Jailbird — metallic silver

Aren’t they gorge? The only shade I found problematic in Pretty Rebel was Miss Sparkles. I had a decent amount of fallout due to the glitter, but that’s almost the deal now with shades like that—no matter who it’s from. Make sure you tap your brush excess well and pat it on the lid, or you’re going to spend some time cleaning up. I docked a minimal amount of points for this, because not only are similar shades prone to this rebellious behavior, the rest of the palette just makes up for it.

I can think of about a zillion ways I want to pair up these shadows, but if you’re not feeling creative, Jerrod has included a small look-book as always to give you some inspiration.

Bottom Line…

If it weren’t for Miss Sparkles’ rebellious behavior, Pretty Rebel would have earned a perfect score. But no biggie! I think you’ll like love the rest of the palette.
