In the past week, I’ve had a lot of fun with the new Urban Decay holiday collection, but this product has had me coming back for more—the Shattered Face Case. This all-in-one palette has everything for eyes, lips, and cheeks, and is limited edition—go get it while you can! Let’s take a closer look…
Urban Decay Shattered Face Case
Urban Decay’s first palette ever was a Face Case, but that was over 10 years ago, so I’m totally stoked to see the return of these multi-tasking wonders. There’s a second one, the Anarchy Face Case (Sephora exclusive), and my review for it will be coming soon (update: review is here). But in the meantime, see what makes this one my fave! Currently, these are all exclusive shades you won’t find anywhere else—with the exception of the eye liner and lip gloss pencils.
Shattered’s exterior features a shattered glass design with a purple embossed UD logo. It’s a double layer compact, with your eye goodies on the top (5 phenomenal eyeshadow shades), a travel-size 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero (their classic popular black), and an excellent lippie—a full-size Super-Saturated High Gloss Pencil in Lovechild (cool pink cream). The gloss pencil will also peek through on the bottom level with your blush colors, so you won’t have to toggle back and forth from top to bottom while you’re doing your cheeks if you want access to your lip color, this is pretty convenient.
The eyeshadow shades inside (they’re all new):
- Nameless — medium grey-brown satin
- Remix — rich purple shimmer with tonal micro-glitter
- Shakedown— rich brown gunmetal satin
- Minor Sin — champagne pink satin
- Bleach — yellow-beige matte
The quality of these eyeshadows is what I’ve come to expect from Urban Decay, and I will definitely hit pan on Shakedown and Minor Sin—no questions asked! I didn’t experience any problems with them, but you may find just a tad of fallout with Nameless, and a little bit of powdery-ness with Bleach. This is not enough to deter me from my love for these shades. Just wanted to make a note for you! They’re rich and buttery, and feel and look great. Easy to blend, and the color saturation is there for me.
top level—eyeshadows, 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil, Super Saturated High Gloss Lip Color
Nameless, Remix, Shakedown, Minor Sin, Bleach
top to bottom: Nameless, Remix, Shakedown, Minor Sin, Bleach
bottom level—Super Saturated Lip Pencil peeks through, two blushes, one highlighter
Face colors in the second level (they’re all new):
- Overexposed — dusty rose
- Temper — soft baby pink
- Glint — soft pink-champagne shimmer
(The Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Color in Lovechild peeks through from the top level.)
These shades are beautiful and totally complementary to either the dramatic or soft eye you can create from the eyeshadows in the first level. They are soft and blend easily. If I had one improvement suggestion, I’d make these a little more pigmented, but they are easily buildable…so maybe I shouldn’t complain!

Super Saturated High Gloss Lip Color in Lovechild
The Super Saturated High Gloss Lip Color in Lovechild is part of the permanent line, so it’s easily replaceable if you go through it before the rest of the palette. It’s a gorgeous flushed natural pink that complements the rest of this case. I’m able to get 3½ hours of wear out of it, sometimes four, and it doesn’t dry my lips out in the slightest for being so pigmented. If you don’t own any of the other shades of Super Saturated High Gloss Pencils, what are you waiting for? Check them out!
The 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero is Urban Decay’s basic black eyeliner, and it LASTS. It’s also part of the permanent line, along with about a zillion other fantastic shades, so check them out as well.
24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero
This is my favorite item I’ve tried out of the Urban Decay holiday collection for 2013 (the other reviews are coming shortly). The eyeshadows are a force to be reckoned with, and the rest of the products are just as nice! This is a perfect holiday gift. This case is small, but may seem a little bulky, but it fits so much! The next time I travel, it’s all I’m taking with me besides my foundation and mascara.
