Bring out your inner glam rocker with the relaunch of Urban Decay’s Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliners! These originally launched years ago with five shades, but in addition to new packaging with this relaunch, you’ll find two new shades in the Heavy Metal lineup. I have to admit, even if glitter isn’t my thing, these are pretty sweet.
Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner
This revamped collection of seven shades features the same signature Heavy Metal formula—super ultra-fine glitter in a transparent gel base fortified with peach and cucumber extract to condition the skin, and carrot extract to smooth and soften. The packaging is a little different though. The revamped packaging has a decorative lightning bolt on the front of the tube, and the top is a shiny gunmetal cap with the UD logo embossed on the top.
I’m no glitter liner expert (hey, at least I’m honest!), but I was surprised to find I wasn’t picking glitter off my face after wearing these for several hours. I walked around the house (it’s also about 80 degrees in my office thanks to a faulty A/C unit) with Spandex on one eye, and Junkshow on the other. My UPS man is used to seeing me like this with random makeup on both sides of my face at the same time, so I’m never worried about what he thinks when I open the door. Same goes for FedEx, and Mr. Beauty Junkies—he doesn’t even bat an eye when he sees me like this anymore!

Here’s the trick with these. For a finer line with less glitter, leave the black wiper inside the tube. For more intense glitter (and a thicker line), you’ll need to remove the black wiper at the top of the tube. Whatever you do, DO NOT use your teeth for this. It took me some effort, but I used a pair of old tweezers I didn’t care much about anymore to pry these guys out. It’s your choice depending on the look you’re going for, but I wanted to pass that tip along to you. Otherwise, the line can be pretty sparse.
Additionally, give these liners a few extra seconds to dry on your lash line. Since they’re a clear gel, it can take a little longer before you go blinking heavily. Even though I’ll reserve these for Halloween and New Year’s Eve, they’re fun, and I know plenty of readers will like them.
Spandex — note the black wiper can be removed for more product on the liner brush
Junkshow — note the black wiper is removed
