Urban Decay continues to make me NAKED-crazy, especially now that they’ve confirmed that the NAKED 3 palette is really on the way. So what better time to meet one of the newer NAKED partner products, right? Meet NAKED Illuminated. It’s a shimmering face and body powder that gives a fresh-faced, backlit glow.
This baby was baked for 24 hours on a terra-cotta disc, then hand finished. I love baked products because I feel like they last forever since they’re so saturated. NAKED Illuminated is enclosed in a pretty rose-gold box that has two layers. The first is obviously the product and mirror, the second houses a synthetic application brush. Normally I’m not fond of the brushes that come with products because the quality makes them seem like an afterthought. This little brush is nice though, and perfect for sweeping across the high points of the face and on your collarbone.
NAKED Illuminated translates as a slightly warm beige hue that shimmers beautifully on the skin. I truly wish my swatches made it look as such, but I’m so fair that the product is somewhat hard to see on my hand. Since I’m so fair, I use this to accent my blush, and to add a little bit of luminescence along the bridge of my nose. I always associate luminescence with youth, so I’m so down with a product like this!
The one thing about this that might sway you one direction or the other is that there’s a tiny bit of silver glitter in it. It’s so fine that I couldn’t photograph it well, but you’ll know it’s there. In terms of texture, it’s silky smooth to the touch, and it’s not overly powdery when applied. I feel like it blends easily and it stays for most of the day. I notice some fading around hour six, but with my skin type that’s typical, all my products start breaking down at some point. I think this looks really pretty and gives nice radiance to my skin, I just think it might be better for someone whose color was a little deeper than mine. I’d love to see this on darker skin tones!
