Say what you will, but I love Lorde. This teenager is wise well beyond her years, and rocks a unique signature style that I totally appreciate in a world of carbon copy pop princesses. This summer, MAC will release Pure Heroine—a deep amplified plum lipstick, along with the Rapidblack Penultimate Eye Liner (permanent line) as the Lorde Collection.
I’ve applied it twice in the past 24 hours, and I can tell you so far that it’s not super drying like most shades in this color family. Pure Heroine has a nice slick finish with a purple-plum payoff on my skin tone. I think it will look more like an authentic deep Lorde-like shade when paired with a deep lip liner. (I’ve read people recommending several—take MAC Vino or Nightmoth for instance.)
With my first try, I thought it looked a little patchy, although the color stuck around for 6+ hours. On my second try, I exfoliated my lips really well. I’ve found that on round two, the color looks a little more even and it’s wearing nicely. This definitely isn’t a spring shade for me—I’ll hang on to it to wear in the fall.
Sorry lipstick and Lorde lovers, Pure Heroine will be available for a very limited time (until July 3rd), and only online and at two MAC locations in North America. Love it? Stock up when you can—I don’t think it will last long!
