Skincare is self-care, and I’m a big believer in doing things that make you feel good about you — as much as you possibly have time for. One of the things that always makes me feel better inside, is when I take some time out to pamper my skin. And I’m not talking about just removing your makeup at night and washing your face. I mean — like really spending some time on a dedicated night; using face masks, serums, body butters, and maybe even taking a lavender-scented bath! My other little “me time” de-stressing activity is painting my nails — but skincare is where I go when I just need to center myself, and get back to basics.
So it’s a complete understatement when I tell you just how much I’ve been enjoying the five new facial masks from The Body Shop. I’m going to warn you ahead of time — I love them all, and only have great things to say about them.
- British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask — hydrates, soothes, and tones
- Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask — detoxifies, refines pores, reveals glow
- Ethiopian Honey Deep Nourishing Mask — replenishes, restores, comforts
- Amazonian Acai Energizing Radiance Mask — invigorates, fights fatigue, boosts radiance
- Chinese Ginseng & Rice Clarifying Polishing Mask — brightens, evens, revitalizes
I’ve been multi-masking with these babies for a few weeks now — I apply different masks, specific to my skin’s needs in certain zones, and it gives me a wonderful result. Of course, you don’t have to multi-mask, but I think it’s a neat skincare trick that allows you to maximize your pamper-time, while giving your skin the best benefits. I usually do a special skincare night on Sundays, and Wednesdays. Some people may find that one night a week is enough, but I have a few different combos I like to use during any given week to make my skin behave its best. For me, Sundays and Wednesdays are perfectly spaced out so I’m not over-drying my skin, or making it act wacky.
I wanted to point out something special about the five masks; first — they’re packed with crushed and drizzled natural, 100% vegetarian ingredients, three of which are vegan-friendly. Each mask has been formulated without parabens, paraffin, silicone, or mineral oils. They’re based on traditional beauty remedies from all over the world, and a few of them smell good enough to eat.
And can I tell you a secret? I think the British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask rivals the pricey Rose Face Mask from fresh, and I prefer the Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask over the expensive GlamGlow Mud Mask. Just being honest! If $28 makes these a little out of reach for you, or you want to try before you invest in the full-size 3 ounce jar, try one of their sample packets! I see they have a few of them on their website under the facial mask section for $2.50 each.
Oh, just me — multi-masking on a Sunday!
