About a year ago, I went on a quick 2-day wellness retreat with my friend Stef, from we heart this. While we were there, we treated ourselves to a few spa treatments — and I opted for a SpaRitual manicure. Not only was I in desperate need of a good mani, but I wanted to experience SpaRitual nail products and color for the first time. I didn’t know what to expect!
The line is very well known for their vegan-friendly formulation, and this particular formula is a 10-free formula. I know we hear so much about 3-free this, 5-free that formulas in the industry — and what this basically means is that the product is void of certain chemicals that are in traditional nail polishes. I think a portion of the industry is starting to wean away from these additives, but SpaRitual seems to be ahead of the pack in this respect. (I’m personally still learning all the differences myself!)
But back to that SpaRitual manicure experience — it was fantastic. Not only were all the products pampering and enjoyable, but the sheer pink I wore held up for 5 days. For me, that’s saying something, and I wish I could remember the shade name. It was so pretty! Flash forward a year, and I actually have SpaRitual polishes in my hot little hands to experience at home — the Inhale Collection for Spring 2017. Let’s check them out!
I love that this is a more subdued, edited collection. Now don’t get me wrong — I LOVE a good spring pastel (those minty pastel greens, the yellows — oh so pretty!), but there’s just something about the Inhale Collection that draws me in like a moth to a flame. It’s a collection of five dreamy shades, and a Nourishing Vegan Gloss.
Since this was my first personal, at-home experience with their polishes, I have to approve of the brush shape — and this one passes the test. It’s slightly squared off with a little bit of curve at the edges once it’s fanned out, and features 600 bristles for a smooth application. This makes painting my nails myself a little easier, because I’m able to round the corners near my cuticles better than with just a regular-style polish brush.
These were actually formulated by SpaRitual to be worn without a base coat and top coat, according to their website. I will be honest — if you don’t remove the natural oils from the nail plate before polishing (and this pretty much goes with any nail polish), you may not get the adhesion you need for longer wear. If you are just one of those people that nail polish just doesn’t stick around on regardless — I’m going to also recommend utilizing their TrueBond Manicure System. It will help you get the max wear out of the formula and can be used with other SpaRitual shades! But I think the cool thing is, is that these feature a new technology in which it strengthens, hydrates, and revitalizes nails with their Advanced Oxygen Technology, red tea, and seaweed for a healthier nail polish option. In regards to drying time, this formula dried a little faster than average.
These were all two-coat polishes for me, and I have no application issues to report. I personally prefer topping these polishes off with the Nourishing Vegan Gloss in the collection, but it will be entirely up to you and how you like to wear your polish. In the swatches below, I am wearing the Gloss over two coats of polish for each shade. This formula exhibits a nice flow, and self-leveled evenly for me after the second coat. (But I really think the Gloss brings it all together!) You may see a little bit of a weird reflection on my nails — that’s from my lightbox.
Slow Beauty is a pale nude creme with slight peach undertones.
Harmony is a cool pink creme.
Renewal is a blush pink creme with light rose gold shimmer.
Tranquility is a powder blue-grey creme.
Inner Peace is a taupe-grey creme.
Nourishing Vegan Gloss is a clear polish that can be worn over any shade, or on its own for a healthy-looking shine.
