I know, I know. It’s almost too pretty to use, but once I started wearing it — I was hooked. Galifornia is a brand new, sunny golden-pink blush from Benefit that is very flattering. It’s an absolutely perfect spring and summer shade! I’ve always been a fan of Benefit’s boxes of blushes, they’re created with rockin’ concepts, and at first I misread the packaging and thought it said “California”, oops! So if you’re Googling this gorgeous little thing, make sure it’s Galifornia instead! (I don’t think I was the only one who initially made this mistake, but I still feel pretty silly about it.)
Let’s take a look…
The gold on the sun pattern is an overspray. I was hoping for a little more gold in the pan — but I think gold shimmer throughout the entire blush would take away from its warm-pink beauty, so I’m personally glad that the most intense part is just overspray. There’s a pretty satin-like shimmer to this, so I think that kind of dramatic twinkle would take away from the blush overall. It’s not chunky or glittery, it’s more of a warm-toned slight shimmer. This paired with HOOLA or HOOLA Lite is a nice combo for spring and summer, too. That way, you can warm up your skin with a little bronzer, then get that “glow from within” look with Galifornia.
There’s another unique feature to this product — it actually has a little bit of a citrus scent to my nose. It’s supposed to be a light pink grapefruit and vanilla scent, but I mostly just smell citrus. I’ve smelled some pretty intense palettes by other brands lately — and they are just entirely too strong for me. This however, seems more pleasant and subtle. Of course, your nose may differ!
The pigment payoff in Galifornia is probably one of the more pigmented blushes in Benefit’s lineup, as pictured below. Of course, it will apply and blend much more softly with a brush — yet still the perfect amount of color in my humble opinion. I usually share most of my beauty loot with family and friends, but I can tell you, this isn’t going anywhere except on top of my Muji, where all of the current products I’m wearing are. I’m typically very generous and all — but I cannot part with this! It’s just too good!
