Guys! We finally settled in our new home in Washington. Well, not 100% yet — but it definitely feels like home now! The first week we were here, my skin decided to freak out on me like never before. It became so dry and I started breaking out, which isn’t an easy combo to fix. I’m happy to report my skin is on the mend, thanks to a few Origins products — so I had to tell you about them.
This isn’t the first time I’ve fallen in love with products from Origins. I actually started using products from the line when I was about 19, but it’s been about 15 years since I’ve purchased some Origins for myself. That’s too long! It’s been nice rediscovering their products this time around — I feel like I can really appreciate them. (I honestly forgot what I was missing.) Here are four items from the brand that I highly recommend!
It’s spearmint-fresh, and feels so great on my skin. Just the smallest pea size amount froths into a nice lather that’s very sensorial. I actually look forward to cleansing in the shower with this in the morning! When my skin was having its little freak-out session, I found this to actually feel pretty gentle, but it still delivered a thorough clean feeling that wasn’t tight or dry. The product is best for normal, dry, and oily skin — and I’m a believer because I have combo skin. Not only did it not strip my dry skin, but it also tackled my problem areas in my T-zone. I will definitely purchase the full size of this once my generous 1.7 ounce tube is empty — because this is an enjoyable cleanser to rotate in my skincare arsenal. It contains some interesting ingredients; tourmaline, lavender, spearmint, and bergamot. Can you tell I’m a fan? $22 for 5 ounces, origins.com
To keep my skin in check, I exfoliate at least once a week — depending on the product I’m using. But with Modern Friction, it’s so gentle on my face, I can use it twice a week with great results. This contains rice starch in a creamy base, aloe to soothe, and lemon oil and several other essential oils to brighten. It has a fresh citrus scent, and makes my skin glow. It’s not overly gritty, but still effective — and YAY for no microbeads! This is great for sloughing off the rough patches, adding a healthy glow, and smoothing out skin texture. I even use it on the back of my hands before applying their Make A Difference hand treatment (which I also recommend). 4.2 ounces for $39.50, origins.com
With the Pacific Northwest climate being totally different than what I was used to in Los Angeles, we were blasting our indoor heat when we first arrived. (Luckily, we seem to be adjusting to the temps now!) I got incredibly dry from head-to-toe, and what a skin-saver this became for my face! Two nights a week, I’ve used this in lieu of my moisturizers — and let me just say — it does the trick. It’s very moisture rich, with avocado and apricot oils to help soften and hydrate skin. Because of the rose water, apricot oil, and orange flower water, it smells out of this world. Mostly like apricot, yet very soothing. If you have parched skin, or even normal skin that sometimes needs a moisture “boost”, I highly recommend checking this out! 3.4 ounces for $26, origins.com
I know charcoal masks are pretty much all the rage right now, but this is a tried and true classic! Clear Improvement contains active charcoal, white china clay, and lecithin to help keep pores clean, and skin clear. I like to use this by doing warm moist cloth compresses on my face for a few minutes once a week to open up my pores. Then, I’ll apply a light layer of this and allow it to dry. It takes about 5-7 minutes to dry, and then I rinse with warm water. The result? Fresher-feeling pores and brighter skin! My skin easily becomes congested in my t-zone area, it’s a constant battle. So I’m glad to have this to help kick the gunk out of there. If you have oily skin or acneic skin types, this may be a great fit for your skin. 3.4 ounces for $26, origins.com
I sincerely hope you enjoy these products as much as I’ve enjoyed discovering Origins all over again!
