Just launched: the Fruity Juicy Collection from MAC! It’s home to some gorgeously tropical summer-inspired shades for eyes, lips, and face — and also a few cute accessories/brushes. (I’m actually kinda bananas about the eyeshadow palettes, especially.) I have a few fun pieces of the collection to share that MAC kindly sent over for review. The packaging of this collection is perfection!
Sail away on a sweet scent-sation of frootilicious tropical colour. Go bananas in vibrant lipsticks, or zest up your life with Cremesheen Glass and three new Eyeshadow x 6 palettes. Sundream the days away with Bronzing Powders or Pearlmatte Face Powder. Then chase those last rays with Lustre Drops, while the evocative scent of Prep + Prime Fix+ sets the mood for whatever the evening heat may bring.
Oh My Banana (online exclusive)
Of the products I tried — this one was my favorite! I have to be honest — sometimes I find the shadows in MAC palettes to be stiffer than the singles, but of course that depends on the formula/shade. The Oh My Banana Eyeshadow X 6 palette is stunning and creates those orange and burgundy eye looks that are growing in popularity. The only shade I found a little troublesome was one of the mattes (All’s Rosy) — which is sometimes the case. I found the five remaining shades to perform well. I even did a fun eye look for you, but as I got to the last part — my eyeliner — I messed up so badly that the look wasn’t so hot. I just haven’t had the energy to recreate it, but I probably will! I didn’t think I could wear this palette, but I was wrong.
- Retrospeck — beached blonde (lustre)
- Big Kahuna — true gold (frost)
- Soft Brown — soft golden peachy-brown (matte)
- Electric Mandarin — champagne orange (satin)
- All’s Rosy — deep pink rose (matte)
- Land of Delights — mid-tone cranberry (satin)
Also within the collection are a few Cremesheen Glass and Cremesheen Lipstick shades. These were two of the more demure shades — and the finish is true to the Cremesheen formulas. I have Cremesheen Glass in Cha-Cha-Cha (warm peachy-pink), and Cremesheen Lipstick in Shy Girl (creamy neutral coral-beige), but also make sure to check out the pinks. (Love at First Bite, especially!)
Baiana Bronze is a medium-deep toned neutral matte bronzer. This one was a little too dark for my complexion, and looked a little muddy on me — but I’m an NW20 right now. I’m curious to see how this works for medium and deeper skin tones! My swatch looks a little powdery, but I find this to actually be pretty smooth.
Now this, may be a hard find. It’s sold out at the few retailers I’ve checked — but I’m hoping there *may* be a restock. I’m a fan of Prep + Prime Fix+, because it’s great for refreshing the skin, and also for setting makeup! With this collection, they’ve released a coconut version — and it has a lovely essence to it.
Based on how fast several of the other Fruity Juicy Collection have sold out already today, I have a feeling a few of these pieces may be difficult to locate. Make sure to check back on the MAC site, as well as nordstrom.com! Did you know that ULTA is selling MAC now as well? (But sadly, I’m not seeing the Fruity Juicy Collection on their site.)
