Public Relations

Although many of the items reviewed on  Beauty Junkies Unite are purchased, the site accepts products for editorial consideration from brands and public relations representatives.  Receipt of a product does not constitute a contract for a published review of the product. While Beauty Junkies Unite attempts to accept only products of interest in hopes of lessening negative reviews, the acceptance of a submission does not guarantee a favorable review.  Reviews are done based on honest assessments of the products and content is not pre-approved by PR representatives or brands.  Products that wish to impose such limitations will not be accepted for consideration.  Editorial timeline is currently 4-6 weeks from receipt of a product, but may be considered earlier as time allows.  Beginning in October 2009, all items received from brands and PR representatives are disclosed as such.

Affiliate Links, Advertising, and Use of Press Samples

At times, Beauty Junkies Unite makes use of affiliate links.  The site is also supported by paid advertisements and is a member of Total Beauty Media.  Occasionally, Beauty Junkies Unite is contacted by brands and public relations representatives that express a desire to have their product or service featured in a product performance review and will submit a press sample for that purpose, but does not constitute a contract for a published review of the product or service in a favorable light.  Beginning October 8, 2009, any product review post that is published after that date featuring a product that was received as a press sample will be identified as such in accordance to the Federal Trade Commission’s “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising”.

No Warranty of Products

Beauty Junkies Unite makes no warranties as to the effectiveness or quality of any product. Reviews are based on personal experience and personal opinion.  As with any product, the individual user’s opinion may vary.  Comments concerning reviews from users about their experiences are encouraged and welcome.

Site and Content Use

Beauty Junkies Unite retains their full copyright for all material.  Use of material, either in full, part, or derivative form, without express permission is prohibited.  All material, whether found directly on the site or taken from an RSS feed is licensed for personal use only.  Republication without express permission may result in billing for use of the material, formal notification of the violation to hosts and advertisers under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, and other legal action as deemed necessary.

Comment Policy

Reader comments are welcome and encouraged!  In an ongoing effort to maintain the integrity of the site, all comments are moderated and manually updated pending approval.  The purpose of this moderation is to eliminate all spam and ensure a pleasant environment for readers who wish to constructively and respectfully share their views.  “Spam” includes comments that have the appearance of spam or the appearance of promoting a website.  The use of profanity and threatening or abusive comments to myself or other readers is not welcome and any comments containing what I deem as such will not be approved.

Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to us!  The purpose of this privacy policy is to explain how any information you submit will be used by Beauty Junkies Unite.

When you post a comment on Beauty Junkies Unite, your email address is required but never posted.  The purpose of this is to reduce the amount of spam to maintain the integrity of the site.  If you enter a giveaway, your email address is used to contact you to obtain your mailing information in order to fulfill your prize.  Sometimes your personal shipping information is shared with the brands who often ship the prizes directly from their location.  You will always be notified in advance if this is the case and will have the option to decline to provide your mailing address and forfeit the prize.  Please understand that any information that is disclosed or voluntarily submitted by you in comments becomes public information and any third-party conduct is out of our control.  Please exercise caution when deciding to disclose your personal information.  Our site also contains links to other websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices or content.

If you subscribe to Beauty Junkies Unite by email, your email address will also be recorded by the Feedburner service, you always have the option of unsubscribing from the service at any time through the “Unsubscribe” feature in the newsletters.

We will not disclose any personal information about you without your prior consent, with exception to comply with any legal requirements of any governmental authority or to protect the property of Beauty Junkies Unite.

The site does not use cookies to store information about visitors, but we use third party advertisements.  Some of these third parties may use technology such as cookies and web beacons when they advertise.  This is often used to help show appropriate ads to the visitor.  You may turn off cookies in your browser settings, but this can affect how you view other websites and your ability to log into accounts.

This privacy policy is not intended to and does not create any contractual or other legal rights in or on behalf of any party.  We reserve the right, at any time and without notice, to add to, modify, change or update this privacy policy, simply by posting such change, update or modification on the site. Any change, update or modification will be effective immediately upon posting.
