Too Faced A Few of My Favorite Things Holiday Collection Palette Review, Photos, Swatches

Joy to the girls!

Too Faced really rocked it this holiday with their Joy to the Girls Collection, and this is probably my favorite piece from the collection, the A Few of my Favorite Things Palette. It’s jam-packed with 20 fantastic eyeshadows, two blush shades, two of their most popular bronzers, a full-size Lip Injection Color Bomb in an exclusive shade (Bee Sting), a deluxe size Better Than Sex mascara, a get-the-look guide, all in a chevron clutch with a pattern by celebrity decorator Mary McDonald. WHEW! That was a mouthful! Let’s take a closer look…

Let’s talk eyeshadows for a minute. Too Faced is well-known for their great eyeshadow quality—it’s rare that there’s a total miss—and I truly didn’t feel there was a total miss in this palette. A few of the shades may be a little stiffer than others, but overall, the quality is there, and the pigment payoff is well worth it. While swatching, pigmentation was great on a single pass, and while applying, the pigment both lays down, and blends nicely.  [Read more…]

Beauty Quickies: tarte Golden Opportunity tarte To-Go Kit

tarte golden opportunity kit

Perfect for summer getaways, the new tarte Golden Opportunity Kit is home to travel sizes of two of their best-selling products—Amazonian Clay Bronzer in Park Ave Princess, and Brazilliance Skin Rejuvenating Maracuja Self Tanner. Both products are tried and true beauty junkie favorites!

With both products, you can get a healthy dose of summer color that’s believable and gorgeous. The Brazilliance Skin Rejuvenating Maracuja Self Tanner made our best of summer self-tanners list (coming soon), and here’s why: it’s loaded with hydrators, Vitamin C, and essential fatty acids for healthy skin. It’s really helpful that the self-tanner is tinted, so you can see exactly where you’ve applied, making tanning accidents less likely. [Read more…]

It’s here! Well, I should say, it was here. The RiRi Hearts MAC Summer Collection was released exclusively online on June 18th, to crazy fanfare as usual. At this time, according to the MAC website, everything is sold out except the lipsticks. So if you want a lippie, you may just be in luck!

Sorry for the delay and that this wasn’t up prior to the 18th, but I just received this on the 19th, and I’ve needed a good two days to tinker with it. Since I haven’t had it that long, please let this serve as less of a “review”, and more of a “first impressions” post.  [Read more…]

Jouer Cosmetics Summer Escapes Collection Review, Photos, Swatches

Summer Escapes Collection 2013

My love affair with Jouer didn’t take long to develop. From the very first time I was introduced to the line, my immediate thoughts were—elegant, timeless, and affordable. I haven’t been let down since! Each collection that has launched since my first impressions have incredibly remained all of the above. I kind of think of Jouer Cosmetics as an unsung hero, too. You may not hear about them as much as other prestige brands, often Jouer remains in a league of its own.

jouer components

Many of Jouer’s products connect for easy portability.

The founder and creator, Christina Zilber is totally hands-on with Jouer. After meeting her in-person, I can see her chic and classic touches all over this line! Aside from being a feminine and undeniably pretty collection, it’s also very practical. You don’t need to have pro makeup artist skills to blend her products’ pigments to perfection. Plus—most of the components connect so you can take your favorite Jouer pieces with you, and you don’t have to dig in your bag for them one by one. Can you tell I’m a Jouer Girl by now? Let’s check out the new collection!  [Read more…]

MAC Temperature Rising Collection Review, Photos, Swatches

MAC Temperature Rising Collection

It’s getting hot in here…

We all know that new MAC collections come fast, and they come furious. And I have to say, it’s been a long time since I’ve paused and been like—WOW—AMAZING! This post has taken me some extra time because I have not stopped dabbling in the new Temperature Rising Collection since it hit my desk. In a single word, I describe this one as “impressive”. Check out the pieces I tried!

Nail Lacquers in ‘Scorching Haute’, and ‘Tropical’

In the past, I’ve noticed some inconsistencies in the MAC Nail Lacquer formula. With Temperature Rising, I really liked the results I had with both shades, Scorching Haute, and Tropical. Both give stunning results with full coverage. The glitter in Scorching Haute looks good with two coats (but great with three), and Tropical looked perfect with just two coats. Unlike a lot of glitters I own, the finish was nice and smooth with my top coat of Seche Vite. (I personally find this one to work best!)

Beauty Quickies: mark. Touch & Glow Shimmer Cream Cubes in Warm Glow

Beauty Quickies is a new feature where I showcase a great product that I haven’t had the opportunity to write a comprehensive review for. These products pass my standards, and I hope you enjoy getting these beauty product stats at-a-glance!

mark touch glow warm glow

This is the mark. Touch & Glow Shimmer Cream Cubes All-Over Face Palette in Warm Glow. It’s an effective multi-tasker in that you can use it as an eyeshadow, a quick highlighter, and a bronzer—all in one! There are nine gorgeous shades in gold, rose gold, copper, and bronze; and you can apply them with a finger or your brush of choice. The sleek compact houses a mirror inside for quick touch-ups on the go! The texture is soft and creamy, with just the right amount of color payoff for a sexy summer glow. [Read more…]

What’s New: BUXOM Hot Escapes Bronzer in ‘Tahiti’ and ‘Maldives’

buxom hot escapes bronzers

Hey there, hot stuff! Two new goodies from bareMinerals’ sassy little sister, BUXOM landed on my desk—the Hot Escape Bronzers. Talk about gorgeous! Available this month, and exclusively at Sephora, both of these creamy-smooth bronzers contain rice lipids and coconut oil for a luminous finish. I don’t want you to be afraid of the coconut oil (oils get such a bad rap!), its purpose here is to leave your skin hydrated, and it won’t actually leave your skin oily. The coconut oil also lends a subtle toasted coconut scent to these pretty powders, yum! [Read more…]

Too Faced Sweetheart Beads Review, Photos, Swatches

The first sign of summer launches…

I know it’s hardly spring, and here we go with summer products…but this one is super cute, and one that you can use now! You may have spied this previously when I gave a sneak peek of the pending summer launches from Too Faced, they’re the Sweetheart Beads. Sweetheart Beads are the cutest little pearly heart-shaped pigments that give the face a radiant, warm glow.

Too Faced Sweetheart Beads

Somewhat similar to products like Guerlain Meteorites (yet much less expensive), the idea here is to swirl your brush in the beads, then use it to highlight or add contour. The sweet twist with Sweetheart Beads is that these give a little bit of a peachy-bronze effect to the skin, which I LOVE. I can’t tell you how many times I use a bronzer, then I use a shimmer/highlight product over it, and this totally eliminates that for me because I can just use one product. You can add just a little glow, or really build up the color to your desired shade. Genius!  [Read more…]
