I think I got your attention with “LORAC Eyeshadow Palette, Black Friday, and $12″ in the same headline! Here’s your sneak peek at two awesome holiday values you’ll find exclusively at ULTA on Black Friday. If you’re not too hungover from your turkey and stuffing—you may want to get to ULTA very early (check your individual location for its hours that day), because I have a feeling these will be gone with the wind, very quickly.
As a side note, I’ve been told a limited quantity of these MAY also be on ulta.com that day as well, but please don’t quote me on that as I don’t have specifics to offer you. I’m putting it out there as more of a possible insider-tip that may help you in your search. Fingers crossed that it does! Like the LORAC/ULTA.com Cyber Monday palette deal, treat these palettes similar to “doorbuster” deals that you’d find at just about any other store during the holidays. I just want help you get prepared!
UPDATE: Nouveau Cheap is reporting that ULTA will start its Black Friday Deals the night of 11/27. Please check with your location to confirm the hours they open on Thanksgiving night. I have no way to confirm if they will start selling these palettes that night, or on Black Friday itself. With retailers opening earlier and earlier than the year before for Black Friday deals, it’s often impossible to know what’s available during which hours. If these do wind up going on ulta.com, I would start looking there at 7pm Central, as per Nouveau Cheap’s recommendation. Please see her post for more Black Friday and Cyber Monday deal info!
Ready for a closer look?
On Black Friday this year, LORAC is releasing two limited edition palettes, and both will retail for $12 each at ULTA. One has five matte shades, and it’s called the Vintage Vixen (peach print). The second palette has five shimmer shades, and it’s called the Sultry Starlet (burgundy print). I have not given all 10 shades a 100% test drive for a full review, but I feel comfortable sharing my initial thoughts and feelings on them enough to give the details and swatches, with the hopes they can help you make a purchasing decision.
Each palette fits in the length of my hand, and they contain a total net weight of 0.29 oz./8.23g in each palette. The surface of the palettes have a black vintage print that’s laminated, over a thick cardboard exterior. (They do feel pretty sturdy!) Inside you’ll find a small mirror, and the flap of the palette is secured when it’s closed by a magnet.
Sultry Starlet breakdown…
While the shades don’t have names, these are my best attempts at descriptions:
- pale rose gold shimmer
- pale peach/copper shimmer
- yellow gold shimmer
- hazelnut brown shimmer
- dark mocha shimmer
I thought the texture of four of the five shades was very smooth, and nearly creamy with good pigmentation and color payoff. The one shade that required a little extra love was the yellow gold shimmer. It’s not terrible, but not as smooth and pigmented as the other shades. The yellow gold shade had a little bit of powdery-ness to it. Again, not terrible—but a heads up! [Read more…]
