My stylist has given me only one adamant request when it comes to my hair: use whatever you want, but it has to be sulfate-free. I found the range of quality in sulfate-free products is pretty massive. Many sulfate-free shampoos don’t lather very much, or lather at all, which makes me feel like my hair isn’t getting clean. (I know that’s not true, but it’s hard to recondition yourself to not associate suds with cleanliness.) Some shampoos were so thick, it was like slathering tar on my head. Others were so thin it was like pouring water into my mane. You get the idea; there is a WIDE range of shampoos out there, and I’ll be honest — most of them aren’t very good.
When I got bottles of HASK Macadamia Oil Shampoo and Conditioner to try, I wasn’t sure what to expect because they’re sulfate-free. However, my first impression was great—the product smells AMAZING! As summer has officially slipped through our fingers here in Ohio and colder weather is settling in, the fragrance of this shampoo brought me right back to the beach. It contains coconut oil as an active ingredient, plus they added a vanilla nut gourmand scent that makes an amazing scent combo. The viscosity of the shampoo was also spot-on; perfect weight and heft, and it totally passed the lather test.
