Perricone MD — No Makeup Skincare — No Lipstick Lipstick & No Blush Blush Review, Photos, Swatches

perricone MD No Blush No Lipstick

Perricone MD No Makeup Makeup

Sometimes I don’t want to wear makeup at all, but at the same time I want to look polished and not like I rolled out of bed. I’ve figured out a few tricks by now, but these new products from Perricone MD make it so easy. Their No Makeup Skincare line at Sephora is already a big hit, and I recently tried two of the products out to see if they live up to the hype. Let’s go!

Perricone MD No Lipstick Lipstick

No Lipstick Lipstick

First up is No Lipstick Lipstick. It really isn’t a lipstick (hence No Lipstick)—but it’s actually an anti-aging lip treatment that lends a glossy, smooth finish in a shade that’s like your lips—but better. I find it to be very nourishing and hydrating, and it almost feels like a lip butter. Perricone MD is known for their luxe skincare products, so it’s only natural that they’d include some of those innovative ingredients in their color cosmetic offerings.

It’s a solid-to-serum product, and contains hyaluronic acid and tocotrienols to add suppleness. It also contains a non-chemical mineral-based SPF 15 to protect against UVA and UVB rays, so you know I’m happy about that. (Sunscreen for LIFE!)   [Read more…]

Is This $875 Facial Moisturizer The Dream Cream?

3 lab super cream

Is this The Dream Cream?

Confession: I’ve had this baby for several months, but I struggled with how to present it to you. I feared I might be thrown over a cliff when I suggested an $875 facial moisturizer for you, or even tossed into a pit of flames. Okay, maybe not. But I didn’t know how would react. While I’m not suggesting you run out and charge up your Visa for the 3LAB Super Cream, I am telling you to keep it on your radar—because the technology behind this cream is a total game changer. I don’t think anyone else on the consumer market has the ability, ingredients, or the technology to keep up right now.

Get this—just one of the ingredients in Super Cream costs $900,000 per kilo. Yes, you read that right, that was not a typo! [Read more…]

But what I’m hoping, is that if you like either of these pieces, you’re able to find them at a MAC counter or free-standing store. Miracles DO happen…and it IS Christmas! Ready. Set. Glow! With Le Métier de Beauté’s CHEM60 Pro-Peel & GLOW10ai Mask Set

It doesn’t take much to lure me to a beauty counter; full of gorgeous, colorful baubles like these on the Le Métier de Beauté counter at my local Neiman Marcus. But I’ve heard everyone in the blogosphere RAVING about this new peel/mask combo, so you know I had to go check it out! It’s called the CHEM60 Pro-Peel & GLOW10ai Mask Set, and with a price tag of $265 (it’s sold as a set), I could see why someone would be scared away. I haven’t had much of a formal introduction to the brand myself (with so many, I can’t keep track!), but I’m not a LMdB virgin here anymore. Let me your beauty guide into the Le Métier de Beauté (and swanky peel) unknown…it’s fun! So let’s go!

Before we get to the fancy peel/mask duo, I wanted to introduce you to their small line of skincare—so basic, and SO effective. There wasn’t a thing I tried on my skin that I didn’t wish I could buy. From the Peau Vierge Daily Renew Cleanser, to their Daily Refresh Tonic, I was already in love. And that was just the start of my Le Métier experience. In their Peau Vierge skincare range, you’ll also find anti-aging moisturizers, serums, and an eyelash growth serum—but I couldn’t help but ask for a few samples of the Replenishing Daily Solution with SPF 30. It’s a daytime moisturizer that makes my skin glow without looking greasy. And now…on to the show!  [Read more…]

Fab Find: MOR Little Luxuries Collection

Call me crazy, but it’s about this time every year that I start stockpiling holiday gifts. I always try to show appreciation to the people who make my life a little easier during the year; like our landlady who always makes sure our building is spotless, my hairstylist who makes time for me no matter how booked she is, and my UPS and FedEx drivers who hustle upstairs several times a week to deliver my packages. By doing this, I find that I’m noticeably less stressed come Christmas, and I always have plenty of thoughtful hostess gifts ready to go! [Read more…]

Sneak Peek: Guerlain “Belle de Nuit” Holiday Color Collection 2011

I often wonder what the inspiration is behind an entire seasonal collection, but after reading what inspired the Guerlain Holiday 2011 Collection I became intrigued…wouldn’t you be after this story?

During the 1920’s and 1930’s, pioneers in aviation accomplished unimaginable feats and these brave pilots became instant, worldwide heroes.  It was during this revolutionary period, in 1933, that Jacques Guerlain composed the legendary perfume Vol de Nuit, meaning “Night Flight,” as a tribute to the most famous women aviators of his time. Named for the second book written by his close friend Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Guerlain’s creation was a bold oriental fragrance that served as ode to all fearless women. Comprised of woody, vanilla and powdery iris notes, Vol de Nuit was for the woman who laughs in the face of fear, for whom nothing is impossible. For Guerlain’s Holiday 2011 make-up collection Belle de Nuit, Creative Director Oliver Échaudemaison takes his inspiration from this legendary fragrance.  Evoking the changing shades of the night sky, he created daring tones that are both dark and dramatic with mesmerizing iridescent accents. With lacquered and blue-green details, the products are encased within boxes that reveal the blue and black zebra motif found on the original Vol de Nuit box design. Belle de Nuit is a sophisticated and enchanting limited edition collection that is as fleeting as nightfall.

Let’s take a look at these opulent pieces that will likely inspire some beautiful holiday party looks…

Les Ombres de Nuit 4-Colour Palette

Opening a Guerlain product almost feels like you’re unwrapping a present, and this eyeshadow quad definitely embodies that. Out of the box, you’ll find a black velvet pouch which contains a significant gold compact. Inside, there are four pans of eyeshadow; three that are iridescent/pearlescent, one that is matte. For iridescent/pearlescent—a silvery sky grey, an intense dark sapphire blue, and a pale teal with muted grey undertones. These are paired nicely with a matte black that can be used as a liner—or for those who like to be a little more daring—try wearing a little in the crease, then placing one of the other shades over it for an intense effect. These pigments are not weak by any stretch of the imagination, and they really last on the skin. The textures are nice and velvety, and they don’t seem to break up when you press an applicator or brush into them—often that leads to fallout. I had a little bit of fallout with the sapphire shade, but I was really laying it on—so in that case, I don’t think you’ll experience much of a problem. $59   [Read more…]

Review & Swatches: Dolce & Gabbana The Animalier Glow Bronzing Powder

Now, THIS is what I’m talking about! You know how sometimes you buy a product and automatically deem it “too pretty to use?” Well ladies, go ahead—use The Animalier Glow Bronzing Powder from Dolce & Gabbana up! While it’s gorgeous, it’s also very functional and sultry. Not to mention—Olivia from Jerseylicious would absolutely LOSE HER MIND over it…

Olivia does not endorse Dolce & Gabbana or this product,
I just have a silly sense of humor. TEAM OLIVIA!

Now back to the serious stuff. This bronzer is housed in a decadent, opulent gold compact—complete with a black velvet pouch to hold the brush. The animal print is actually an overspray, and after a few dustings it will reveal a marbled bronzer underneath, with varying tones of both lighter and darker bronze shades.

Review & Swatches: Dolce & Gabbana The Italian Summertime Collection

Part drama, and part soft-hued neutrals and nudes—The Italian Summertime Collection from Dolce & Gabbana brings several contrasting tones together, and makes it work!

“We were very much inspired by the ideas behind the Summer 11 runway,” says Stefano Gabbana, “We wanted to reflect the Sicilian culture with a fresh interpretation. We began by imagining a young bride’s hope chest, full of treasures from the past and the present that are the key to her future. To capture this moment of purity and deep passion, the moment when a woman’s future beckons was so challenging… yet, in the end, the collection evolved so naturally, it could work for any significant passage of a woman’s life.”

Who better to bring this challenging concept to fruition than the legendary Pat McGrath? Collaborating with Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, McGrath achieves Sicilian flavor with modern elements in this collection for summer 2011. Lipsticks in shimmering neutrals (Perla and Luna), the PERFECT nude (Mandorla), and a shocking red (Venere) start things off on the right track. These are extremely luxurious and creamy, and remind me of the formulas of lipsticks that 50’s screen sirens must have worn, both in texture and fragrance. These are extremely feminine in every way!

Review: TEMPTU AIRbrush Makeup System Starter Set

It wasn’t really that long ago, just a few years actually—that airbrush makeup systems seemed completely out of reach to everyday consumers. While they’re still considered a luxury by many, they’re becoming more attainable and affordable with each innovation that hits the market. One of the most recent is the TEMTU AIRbrush Makeup System Starter Set. I think one of the reasons I didn’t try it sooner is because I was under the impression that it was really complicated to use. I took one look at the AIR pods that contain the foundation, and I was convinced that it was something I didn’t want to get involved with. Another case of Amber Judges a Book By its Cover and Couldn’t Be More Wrong. I’ve written about other airbrush systems in the past, and I’ve called them “easy to use”. But NO. This one—it’s REALLY easy to use! Scout’s honor. I think I even tweeted something the first time I used it, to the effect of “Sorry other airbrush systems, but TEMPTU just kicked your butts!”

The system itself is a lightweight, compact, and portable device that is ready to go—after you’ve attached two cords, and an AIR pod. One cord is the air hose, and the other is the AC adapter, both of which took me just a few seconds to do. The most challenging part will probably be understanding the AIR pods.  [Read more…]
