Review & Swatches: L’Oreal Colour Riche Le Gloss

This isn’t just another lip gloss in a tube, ladies. This is L’Oreal Colour Riche Le Gloss. What makes this different are the non-sticky ingredients that make the formula nice & comfy on the lips. This is the first mass market gloss that I’ve tried that has argan oil in the formula, blended with Omega 3 and Vitamin E for the ultimate in lip comfort and care.

I tried out four colors, and I’m going to play devil’s advocate here: I didn’t think they were as pigmented as they could be—but I did try out very light colors. When I looked at the rest of the collection at my local CVS, the colors looked much more pigmented than the four I tried out. So that’s something to keep in mind if you really want a dose of color!

Review & Swatches: Milani Paint Eyeshadow Palette

In addition to the other July exclusives from Milani (don’t miss the reviews for the Haute Flash Lip Glosses and High Speed Nail Lacquers), you may have spotted this Paint Eyeshadow Palette at your local CVS. The bright colors drew me in, like a moth to a flame! Milani is known for their excellent pigmentation at affordable prices, but I have to say—this palette doesn’t measure up to the Milani quality I’ve grown to love. There’s an exception for everything, right? But what went wrong?  [Read more...]

Review: Maybelline The Falsies Flared Volum’ Express Mascara

What is this pretty purple tube with wings I spy? It’s the new The Falsies Flared Mascara from Maybelline! You might be thinking, “But wait, I already have The Falsies…”

This version is totally different—I promise.

I could tell immediately that the brush is different. The Falsies Flared brush actually has true brush bristles on the brush, while the original sports much shorter ones. (You can check out my original review from last year if you need to refresh your memory.) In addition, I think the formula of the original is much more moist than The Falsies Flared. Flared’s formula is a little bit more stiff in consistency and dries faster than the original.  [Read more...]

Review & Swatches: Milani Haute Flash Full Coverage Shimmer Lipgloss Shades for July

As part of Milani’s July-exclusive limited edition products, you’ll find four shades of Haute Flash Full Coverage Shimmer Lipgloss—which are a play on the Lip Flash gloss pencils I reviewed a few months ago. I found these Haute Flash shades to be pretty true to their promise by providing full coverage, shimmering, and super glossy color.

I consider these borderline liquid lipsticks, as one swipe delivers some punchy pigment…

  • Hot Flash — racy red shimmer
  • Flashy — punchy fuchsia shimmer
  • In a Flash — vibrant dark violet shimmer
  • Star Flash — pale lavender/pink shimmer [Read more...]

Review: Boscia B.B. Cream SPF 27 PA++

Six months ago, I could not have told you what a BB Cream was. As a matter of fact—in the beauty blogosphere, I still think that Musings of a Muse has the best grip on the matter, and I learned about most of them from her. These multi-tasking creams have been most popular on the Asian market for years—and it’s only been in recent months that brands with new U.S. versions are hitting our shores, and they are hitting hard. Can I please just say—thank you, BB Creams? You are ROCKING MY WORLD. [Read more...]

Review & Swatches: Dolce & Gabbana The Animalier Glow Bronzing Powder

Now, THIS is what I’m talking about! You know how sometimes you buy a product and automatically deem it “too pretty to use?” Well ladies, go ahead—use The Animalier Glow Bronzing Powder from Dolce & Gabbana up! While it’s gorgeous, it’s also very functional and sultry. Not to mention—Olivia from Jerseylicious would absolutely LOSE HER MIND over it…

Olivia does not endorse Dolce & Gabbana or this product,
I just have a silly sense of humor. TEAM OLIVIA!

Now back to the serious stuff. This bronzer is housed in a decadent, opulent gold compact—complete with a black velvet pouch to hold the brush. The animal print is actually an overspray, and after a few dustings it will reveal a marbled bronzer underneath, with varying tones of both lighter and darker bronze shades.

Print close up…  [Read more...]

Review: Urban Decay Cannonball Ultra Waterproof Mascara

I usually don’t wear waterproof mascara, but I had to make a HUGE exception last week. Our central air conditioning unit was broken, and due to the recent SoCal heatwave—it took a week to have a new one installed. We were melting, it was just ridic! What better time to put the new Urban Decay Cannonball Mascara to the test, right? It was all BB creams and Cannonball to the rescue!

Cannonball is currently available only in black and features a gel-like, paraben-free formula. There are some pretty amazing fibers in this one to offer fab length, taking your lashes where most lengthening mascaras can’t. If I were judging Cannonball solely on that, it wins! But, this is a waterproof mascara—and what good is it if it isn’t waterproof? I definitely spent days testing it to the max, and beyond.

Review & Swatches: Dolce & Gabbana The Italian Summertime Collection

Part drama, and part soft-hued neutrals and nudes—The Italian Summertime Collection from Dolce & Gabbana brings several contrasting tones together, and makes it work!

“We were very much inspired by the ideas behind the Summer 11 runway,” says Stefano Gabbana, “We wanted to reflect the Sicilian culture with a fresh interpretation. We began by imagining a young bride’s hope chest, full of treasures from the past and the present that are the key to her future. To capture this moment of purity and deep passion, the moment when a woman’s future beckons was so challenging… yet, in the end, the collection evolved so naturally, it could work for any significant passage of a woman’s life.”

Who better to bring this challenging concept to fruition than the legendary Pat McGrath? Collaborating with Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, McGrath achieves Sicilian flavor with modern elements in this collection for summer 2011. Lipsticks in shimmering neutrals (Perla and Luna), the PERFECT nude (Mandorla), and a shocking red (Venere) start things off on the right track. These are extremely luxurious and creamy, and remind me of the formulas of lipsticks that 50′s screen sirens must have worn, both in texture and fragrance. These are extremely feminine in every way!
