New Year, New Tools, (even more) Gorgeous You!

New Year’s resolutions aside, this is the perfect time to change things up!  The occasional pimple that keeps popping up in the same area, a dull smile, newly discovered fine lines around the eyes, or hair that’s looking uninspired can be a drag.  Here are four beauty tools you can use in the new year, for an even more gorgeous you!

Clarisonic Opal Sonic Infusion System

Using the same sonic technology as the Clarisonic skin-cleansing system, this little gem targets fine lines and wrinkles in the delicate eye area.  Sonic vibrations infuse a special serum into the outermost layers of the skin, where it quickly goes to work—reducing puffiness and minimizing the look of fine lines.  Hydrate, firm, and protect instantly, with more visible results over time.

ghd Dazzle Gift Set

Whether it’s less frizz, straighter hair, more curls, or sleek looks you want—you can do it all with the ghd 1″ Professional Styler and ghd Travel Dryer.  This professional-grade ceramic flat iron heats up almost instantly to create curls, waves, flips, or straight hair in less time, with less damage.  Great for fine-to-thick haired babes; the ghd iron adds a glossy, healthy sheen to locks! Top 7 Double-Duty Beauty Must-Haves of Makeup Pro Iris Moreau

It’s not every day that you get to take a look inside the kit of a professional makeup artist, so when pro Iris Moreau was offering up a few of the secrets inside of hers, you know I had to take a peek!  Here, Moreau shares some of her double-duty diva faves…

1. MAC Strobe Cream

This gorgeous, highlighting cream from MAC is filled with soothing botanicals, vitamins, and green tea that refresh and brighten tired, dry skin. It’s iridescent particles diffuse and reflect light, and add a soft shimmery glow wherever you dab it on.

2. NARS The Multiple

I love this all-purpose cream stick from NARS! I use it on eyes, lips, cheeks, and body to accent, contour and highlight. It glides on effortlessly and adds soft transparent color wherever applied. My personal favorites: Copacabana, and Orgasm.

3. Tini Beauty Lip Liqueur Lip and Cheek Stains

With 11 gorgeous tints to choose from in everything from sheer corals to beautiful berries, and juicy plums; these amazing little liquid stains from Tini Beauty add the perfect pretty “flush” to lips and cheeks. I use them often on my shoots with kids to give them a fresh glow, without looking like they’re wearing makeup.

What Mario Badescu Skin Care Products Did Martha Stewart Give Oprah?

Sorry Glee and Gossip Girl—this week’s most enthralling television time-slot belonged to two of the most influential media moguls in the world; in the same hour on one stage: Martha Stewart and Oprah Winfrey.

Martha appeared on Oprah earlier this week to speak candidly about her incredible comeback (Stewart served 5 months in prison in 2004 for securities fraud), share some of her favorite crafting tips, and dish out some pretty incredible grilled cheese recipes.  And of all people, Martha would never be one to show up empty-handed to her hostess’ home, right?  So naturally, she brought along a thoughtful custom gift basket with several of her personal favorite products that she thought Oprah would love too.  Of special interest to me however were those Mario Badescu skin care products she gestured towards.  Oprah replied, “Yes.  I love these products!”

I think it’s safe to say we all know about the power of The Oprah Effect.  (Oprah’s Favorite Things, anyone?)  I’m happy to say that I’m a huge fan of several Mario Badescu products myself!  If you’re curious about the specific Mario products that Martha gifted Oprah in her gift basket, say no more… here they are:

Review: Garnier Moisture Rescue Lightweight UV Lotion SPF 15

I’ve really liked some Garnier facial cleansers in the past, and I’ve even gotten my brother and my husband hooked on the new Garnier Fructis Anti-Dandruff Intense Cleanse Shampoo—they tell me it ROCKS!  But I’m putting it out there into the universe that I have found the most perfect basic daytime moisturizer for my own needs, and it has come from the most unlikely of places when you consider my borderline-obsessive expensive moisturizer history.  It’s from Garnier, it’s under $10, and you can buy it at the drugstore (and even some supermarkets).  Garnier Moisture Rescue Lightweight UV Lotion SPF 15 is one of three skincare products in their new Moisture Rescue collection.  You’ll also find a new facial cleanser and gel-cream moisturizer which I do like—but I have to sing the praises here of what turned out to be the hero product of the three in my opinion.

Review: Avon ANEW REJUVENATE Night Sapphire Emulsion

This one goes on my list of intriguing beauty products, for sure!  I’m more of a moisturizing cream gal myself, so the thought of an emulsion doesn’t really cross my mind too often.  But how can you resist something that actually sparkles?  Avon’s ANEW REJUVENATE Night Sapphire Emulsion sparkles aplenty, but that’s not all.  I like to think of this facial skincare product as a cross between a serum and a moisturizer, with it’s gelatinous consistency and moist feel.  But the other trick it has up it’s sleeve is kind of different…

It’s meant to refine the appearance of enlarged pores and smooth the skin’s texture—while hydrating it too.  Pretty nifty, huh?  But did it work?

Review: Four Truffles Body Butter

Last month, I profiled Four Truffles as a bodycare brand you must check out.  If you haven’t had a chance to check them out yet, you may wish to (and soon), as I’m about to go over their incredible Body Butter collection!

In my opinion, these aren’t at all similar to the body butters you’ll find being sold at body and bath specialty stores.  While I like those and there’s nothing wrong with them, I’d like to point out a few key differences that make a Four Truffles Body Butter special:

• Four Truffles has found a way to deliver the benefits of applying such an argan oil, shea butter, and olive oil-rich product to the skin.  Using what they describe as a “sophisticated liquid crystal delivery system” (their proprietary 4T PDN Complex), Four Truffles claims that this technology allows the ingredients to mimic the skin’s natural structure.

• Their formulas utilize a rare key ingredient that was once the beauty secret of Moroccan women and often referred to as “liquid gold”; argan oil.  Four Truffles sources their share of this indigenous ingredient through an agreement with a women-owned cooperative and is harvested in South Morocco.  Their shea butter is also sourced through a women-owned collective in western Africa.  Doing this ensures that the product is of the highest quality, while simultaneously supporting the economic growth of rural women.

Must Check Out: Four Truffles

I recently had the pleasure of learning all about Four Truffles, a brand which I found truly impressive!  While this line of skin therapeutic, argan oil-infused, and natural organic bath & body products is completely worthy of a dedicated review (which is coming), I wanted introduce everyone to the real beauty behind the brand first…
