Coming Soon: Benefit ‘How To Look The Best At Everything’ Flawless Complexion Makeup Kit

I promised that I’d have a few Benefit sneak peeks up for you this week, but some server problems made me break that promise, and I’m SO sorry! Now that those woes are mostly over (hopefully), on with the show!

Benefit is releasing a few kits next month that will be Sephora exclusives. Some of them are color collections, but this one right here—is a complexion collection, the ‘How To Look The Best at Everything’ Flawless Complexion Makeup Kit. It’s available in three shades; Light, Medium, and Deep. As luck would have it, I have Medium which is too dark for me—but I’m still thankful, and happy to share!

Seeing is Believing: Make Up For Ever HD Complexion Starter Kit

Did you see Make Up For Ever’s HD un-retouched campaign earlier this year? I remember opening up one of my glossy mags last spring to find their latest advertisement. It featured a model whose photo was un-retouched for their HD line of complexion products. I was quite amazed by the brand’s courage—selling complexion perfection to everyday consumers is a daunting task, mostly because it’s intimidating (and so easy to mess up). Trying to make it a little easier for us to get it right, they now offer an HD Complexion Starter Kit with four key pieces for flawless skin. I tried it out, in my own shade to see if I could achieve the look that usually requires an army of artists and a PhotoShop expert to achieve. Let’s go!

When I toured MUFE’s new Los Angeles flagship store last month, I made sure to have their head artist color match me for the HD High Definition Invisible Cover Foundation. (As an NW20, I converted to #130.) There are 26 shades to choose from—so there literally is something for almost anyone! The Complexion Starter Kit comes with a full-size foundation, HD Microperfecting Primer #0, the HD Microfinish Powder, and a great kabuki brush. They’re confident this combo will minimize the look of visible pores and fine lines without looking or feeling too heavy, in just three steps.  [Read more…]

Review & Swatches: CARGO Jet Lag Concealer

Earlier this year, CARGO introduced their new Jet Lag Concealer, and it sounds amazing. Jet Lag promises full coverage, and a reduction of dark circles and puffiness with 28 days of use. But those are some mighty bold claims for a concealer, dontcha think? I tried it out to see if it lives up to the hype…

Now, I have to be honest. I’m not someone who experiences a lot of puffiness unless I’ve had a lot of salt before bedtime. (Lucky for me, I prefer my sweets over salt!) But what I do have, is a thinning of the skin under my eyes—which with each passing day—shows a little more darkness from the veins that are closer to becoming exposed. That my dearies, is a DRAG. But I still figured I might receive some benefit from Jet Lag. [Read more…]

Top 7 Double-Duty Beauty Must-Haves of Makeup Pro Iris Moreau

It’s not every day that you get to take a look inside the kit of a professional makeup artist, so when pro Iris Moreau was offering up a few of the secrets inside of hers, you know I had to take a peek!  Here, Moreau shares some of her double-duty diva faves…

1. MAC Strobe Cream

This gorgeous, highlighting cream from MAC is filled with soothing botanicals, vitamins, and green tea that refresh and brighten tired, dry skin. It’s iridescent particles diffuse and reflect light, and add a soft shimmery glow wherever you dab it on.

2. NARS The Multiple

I love this all-purpose cream stick from NARS! I use it on eyes, lips, cheeks, and body to accent, contour and highlight. It glides on effortlessly and adds soft transparent color wherever applied. My personal favorites: Copacabana, and Orgasm.

3. Tini Beauty Lip Liqueur Lip and Cheek Stains

With 11 gorgeous tints to choose from in everything from sheer corals to beautiful berries, and juicy plums; these amazing little liquid stains from Tini Beauty add the perfect pretty “flush” to lips and cheeks. I use them often on my shoots with kids to give them a fresh glow, without looking like they’re wearing makeup.

Retail Therapy: Current Craves From The Web

All of this week’s current craves are from Sephora, where if I were shopping on someone else’s dime–this is what I would buy right now.  Because heaven knows we all need a little retail therapy!  Let’s go imaginary shopping, shall we?

philosophy Miracle Worker Miraculous Anti-aging Retinoid Pads and Solution — I love a lot of products from the philosophy line and their skincare is pretty top-notch for being on the more affordable side.  It looks like you’re supposed to moisten the pads with the retinoid solution and then apply to help combat discolorations and wrinkles.  Getting more healthy radiance is always a good thing!

Benefit Stay Don’t Stray — This is supposed to be a primer for both eyeshadow AND concealer.  You know how I love multi-tasking products, they save time, space, and money.
