5 Fab Moisturizing Shampoos to Banish Dry Fall Hair

5 Fab Moisturizing Shampoos to Banish Dry Fall Hair

With the temperatures outside dropping, and indoor heating coming on, your hair may be feeling a little zapped of hydration and lustre. Try switching to one of these moisturizing shampoos to eliminate the dry look, and put some softness back into your ‘do.

Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Wild Ginger Moisturizing Lather Shampoo

Creamy and sulfate-free, this even eliminates my use of conditioner on some days. It smells great, lathers up perfectly, and just a little bit goes a long way. The Keratin Complex hydrates and repairs without weighing down fine hair, my current fave shampoo! $18.95, professional salons only

Redken All Soft Shampoo

With the recent addition of argan oil in this cult classic shampoo formula, All Soft will soften even the most brittle hair. If the elements or chemical processing have taken your hair to its limits (and beyond), try All Soft to regain control and strengthen hair at its core. $13.50, professional salons only  [Read more…]

You Need This: Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter

I’m having the most amazing lipcolor experience right now, and it’s not from where I would normally expect. Someone FINALLY got the lipcolor-to-lip butter ratio right, and it’s REVLON! I went on a massive manhunt for these babies—they’re called ColorBurst Lip Butters, and they are so worthy of the praise they’re receiving in the blogosphere right now. I never had a chance to see the original display for these, but when I finally found them (at my CVS), they were stored in a small glass bowl in a fixture with holiday sets. In a way, I’m kind of glad they were so inconspicuous…I had my choice of pinks and berries (which doesn’t happen to me often). In another way, I hope the resources for these are plentiful in your area, you’ll definitely end up buying more than one! There are 20 shades available, but I’ve only seen 10 of them—they all were gorgeous.

Review & Swatches: Zoya Gems & Jewels Collection for Winter/Holiday 2011

Zoya’s latest, Gems & Jewels gives us three new shimmering metallics, and three glitzy glitters for holiday 2011. I haven’t used any Zoya shades for a few months, so it was nice to fall right back into great quality and stunning shades. I can’t recall ever being let down by Zoya, and this collection keeps me happy! I appreciate that there’s a bit of holiday flare here, but it’s anything but the traditional red and greens that we often see for the season. I love that I can wear these shades and not think of Santa Claus if I wanted to wear one in March!

Noel is an icy, pale blue metallic with silver shimmer. Last year’s Zoya holiday collection provided a similar shade, Crystal—however Noel lacks the glitter, but still has the remarkable color quality.

Twila is a bright blue glitter in a clear base with holographic blue bar glitter.

Two coats of Noel and one coat of Twila, my fave combo!  [Read more…]

Review: Maybelline Great Lash Lots of Lashes Mascara

Just in case you missed it, Maybelline’s Original Great Lash Formula recently turned 40. The big 4-0 is a LONG time as a mascara authority, dontcha think? Fast forward—the mascara in the iconic tube has just gotten better (in my humble opinion)! But will it stand the test of time? Well…that depends on us lovelies, the consumers and beauty junkies of the world. Take a look to see if this is something you’d invest in, Maybelline’s Great Lash Lots of Lashes Mascara.

The cone brush (which is also kind of heart-shaped) provides that happy-medium between bland brushes and those that look like barbaric contraptions. (I’m talkin’ to YOU, Givenchy Phenomen’Eyes!) The cool thing about those barbaric looking brushes is that they not only work some pretty rockin’ magic on the lashes, but they allow you to get into every nook and cranny and reach those teeny, tiny corner lashes. Kudos to this Lots of Lashes brush, because I can do that with ease!  [Read more…]

I swear I tried to avoid a “Funkytown” reference here, but I couldn’t resist! Benefit’s Ticket to Glossytown is just that, your ticket to glossy lips in six perfect for anytime shades—ready for holiday gifting.

The glosses are mini, but the shades are mighty! All have a little bit of shimmer and some are a little more pigmented than others, but they all feature plenty o’ shine.

Nudie-Tude — goldspun twist
Spiked Punch — juicy coral
Life on the A List — pale bubblegum pink

Review: L’Oreal Visible Lift Smooth Absolute Instant Age-Reversing Foundation SPF 17

With the change of seasons, you may be tempted to switch up your foundation to accommodate the changes you’re noticing in your skin. Chilly temperature drops can often bring a dry, dull look to your complexion—and it’s a good idea switch up your foundation formula to see if it can help deliver the look you’re going for. At first, I balked at the notion of wearing a foundation called Visible Lift Smooth Absolute. For starters, I’m not at the stage in the game where I need anything lifted yet (at least I think I don’t!), and I’m often hesitant to put my stamp of approval on products that claim to do so. Regardless, I proceeded with L’Oreal’s Visible Lift with the hopes I’d find qualities within it that I’d appreciate.  [Read more…]
