Coming soon from Urban Decay…

They’re at it again! Forward-thinking and edgy cosmetics brand, Urban Decay usually brings us something delightfully colorful—but this time, they’re thinking on a much deeper level, and that’s our skin. I’ve been tinkering with these two new skincare-type goodies for two days—do you know how hard it is for me to keep secrets from you? Very!

Launching officially on 6/25 on urbandecay.com, you’ll find two new products; the B6 Vitamin-Infused Complexion Prep Spray, and the Eyeshadow Primer Potion Anti-Aging. This won’t serve as a full review for these products because I haven’t used them long enough to vouch for their efficacy, but I can share some information and first impressions. Shall we?urban decay b6 vitamin infused complexion prep spray

I found this really interesting, as the B6 Vitamin-Infused Complexion Prep Spray is made in partnership with SKINDINÄVIA, who are well-known for their line of skin prepping and setting sprays. According to Urban Decay, it contains the first stabilized form of Vitamin B6, which “absorbs oil, minimizes pores, and reduces redness.” Hmm. Pretty interesting stuff! [Read more…]

Milani Eyeshadow Primer Review, Photos

Wearing eyeshadow primer has practically become a beauty commandment—but there are so many! Which one do you choose? They can be pretty pricey, too. My personal faves are in the $20 & up range, and it can get pretty tiresome spending that much when it’s used so frequently, right? Well, good news my friends!

Milani just released an eyeshadow primer that’s comparable to all of the expensive brands you know and love, that delivers a great crease-free and long-wearing result at under $7. I bet your ears are perked up now!

Milani Eyeshadow Primer

Milani Eyeshadow Primer comes in one shade for now (nude), and it reminds me very much of Too Faced Shadow Insurance and Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. But get this—the suggested retail is $6.49! I find it works just as well (if not better). It has a nude tint as it comes out of the tube, but once it’s rubbed in, it’s sheer until you put your eyeshadow on. Then, BAM! The pigment intensity is so much better! [Read more…]

L’Oréal Paris REVITALIFT Miracle Blur Instant Skin Smoother Finishing Cream Review, Photos

Unless you’re a lucky twenty-something, it seems like most of us are looking for the fountain of youth. Living well and taking of yourself, with an emphasis on great skincare seems to be most of the answer, but it doesn’t hurt when there’s a fab beauty product to help make the job a little easier, right? That’s where this new little ditty from L’Oréal Paris fits in, the REVITALIFT Miracle Blur Instant Skin Smoother Finishing Cream. Because who doesn’t want instantly smoother skin?

I’ve got plenty of enlarged pores, and some fine line lines that could use a little smoothing—and did I mention I’m thirty-something? I’m a perfect fit for this product. So let’s see how it did!

REVITALIFT Miracle Blur

REVITALIFT Miracle Blur was inspired by the science of optical skincare, and it utilizes new “Opti-Blur Technology” to diffuse light in millions of directions to instantly erase the look of lines, wrinkles and pores. This provides instant skin gratification by “blurring” away fine lines, wrinkles and pores for a virtually flawless-looking complexion in about 30 seconds. In addition to the product’s instant results, Miracle Blur was formulated with broad-spectrum SPF 30 to protect skin from future damage caused by harmful UVA/UVB rays. That SPF 30 factor was huge for me, because I don’t think I own any other primers/optical diffusers that have a protection factor that high. Score one for me! [Read more…]

Maybelline EyeStudio Color Tattoo Metal Cream Shadows Review, Photos, Swatches

As a follow-up to the very popular Color Tattoo 24HR Cream Eyeshadows, Maybelline recently released five new metallic shades. Interesting factoid—Maybelline tells us that one Color Tattoo shade is sold every 20 seconds!

Shades available:

  • Inked In Pink — metallic shimmering rose
  • Silver Strike — metallic shimmering silver
  • Gold Rush — metallic shimmering yellow gold
  • Barely Branded — metallic shimmering beige
  • Electric Blue — metallic shimmering navy

With a cream-gel formula, these are like a hybrid of MAC Paint Pots and Make Up For Ever Aqua Creams. The best part? They’re super budget-friendly, at less than half the price of either of those products. [Read more…]

What’s New: ELLE Cosmetics Collection Face Primer

Put your best face forward…

Earlier this year, Kohl’s launched a prestige line of cosmetics at their stores nationwide, from a fashion-forward name we’ve come to know and trust, ELLE. Now the taste-makers are making it easier for you to score trend-setting cosmetics shades a little bit closer to home; in an interactive and comfortable, no-pressure shopping environment. If you haven’t been into a Kohl’s location yet to try out the new ELLE Cosmetics lineup of products—here’s a hot one you won’t want to miss!

The ELLE Cosmetics Face Primer is a new fall launch that rivals foundation primers on pricey cosmetics counters. This lightweight and oil-free primer gives a soft-focus effect to the skin, which preps your face for the perfect foundation application, for a lit-from-within effect due to its subtle optical brighteners. (The subtle glow this brings to my face is my favorite part!) [Read more…]

‘Tis the season for blockbuster beauty palettes! And starting the season off with a bang, right out of the gate this year is Too Faced. The Sweet Indulgences Palette is one of the key pieces from Too Faced’s Love Sweet Love Collection for holiday 2012. Review: Dermalogica AGESmart SkinPerfect Primer SPF 30

Editor’s note: Dilara, my favorite pal and mid-western chick checks in with how some of my fave beauty products perform in her part of the country. I hope you like her findings as much a I do!  Because Dilara RULES.–Amber

Dermalogica AGESmart SkinPerfect Primer SPF 30

A primer is like underwear for your skin. If it is the right kind, you look your best. Dermalogica created AGE Smart SkinPerfect Primer SPF 30 to ensure your skin will always look its best.

I loved the way this product smoothed and conditioned my skin almost immediately after applying it. Since it’s tinted, I decided to skip my moisturizer every time I used it and didn’t feel like I missed a beat. Add SPF 30 into the mix and I was thinking this could pretty much do it all.

AGE Smart SkinPerfect Primer contains a potent mix of white tea, peptides and Sodium Hyaluronate to protect skin from further damage while helping replenish skin’s collagen levels and help hydrate skin. Silica, Pearl Powder and Soy Protein work together to smooth and even skin tone.  Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide create the one-two punch to protect skin from harmful UV exposure.  If you’re thinking your skin could use some underwear, I highly suggest Dermalogica AGE Smart SkinPerfect Primer SPF 30.

Bottom Line…

Smoothes skin, evens tone, protects from the sun—this product does it all.

Review: Make Up For Ever Eye Prime

I’ve tried a few eye primers before and always felt like they did an OK job—nothing really blew my mind.  That is, until I tried Make Up For Ever Eye Prime. I am talking AHHHMAZING. I have deep-set eyes so it goes without saying that I’m more likely to experience creasing. Add temperatures in the 90’s and I’m a greasy, creasy mess. To add insult to injury, my eyeliner usually ends up transferring to my brow bone and I look like a total wreck—remember Courtney Love’s make-up circa 1993? That’s usually me after a long hot day.  Needless to say, I was eager to give this stuff a shot.  [Read more…]
