Currently Loving: L’Oréal Paris Ideal Moisture Day Lotion SPF 25

You guys, how much are you paying for your daytime moisturizer with SPF? Even drugstore brands can get up there. What if I told you that I found the PERFECT daily moisturizer with SPF, and it’s under $10. Yes, 10 BUCKS. About $6.99 to be exact! L’Oréal Paris just released a line of crazy-affordable skincare basics in their Ideal Collection. Ideal Moisture Day Lotion SPF 25 comes in three formulas; for dry skin, normal skin, and sensitive skin. I have combination skin personally, and I’ve been rocking the normal skin formula without issue.

L’Oréal Paris Ideal Moisture Day Lotion SPF 25 Normal Skin

This lotion is incredibly lightweight, especially for having sunscreen in it, and get this—it’s oil-free. This absorbs into my skin quickly, makes it feel nice and smooth, and doesn’t affect my foundation application. The scent is light, and very pleasant.  [Read more...]

Quick Drugstore Pick: Simple Eye Make-Up Remover Pads

Lately, I’ve been loving the new products from Simple, because they are really just simple. There’s nothing overly complicated about the brand, and it’s pretty streamlined into effective basics. They make full-size facial cleansing wipes, and I have to say that their basic facial cleansing wipes are my favorite from the drugstore. The sheets are nice and soft, generously sized, and they’re gentle to my skin. The good news is, they recently expanded the cleansing wipes line and I’m trying the new ones out (reviews to follow soon). For now—let’s check out their new eye make-up remover pads. The package is so tiny and cute!

These pads are just as soft and gentle to my eyes as the full-size packages. They’re free of alcohol and oil—yet somehow they still do a great job of removing my eye makeup. They have no fragrance or dyes, and they’ve added conditioning Vitamin B5 and Vitamin E. See? I told you they were simple! [Read more...]

Tried & Tested: 5 Facial Exfoliators That Rock

1. Ole Henricksen Power Peel

My current favorite, the Power Peel pairs a powerful punch of physical and alpha hydroxy acid-based exfoliators with a soothing mask in three pouches for a single use (3 steps per peel; scrub, peel, then mask). Each box comes with six perfectly measured treatments, and nothing goes to waste. My favorite part is step 2, the Lemon Strip Peel. I can’t stand a wimpy peel, and the glycolic and lactic acids add a bit of zing, which is then soothed by the Chamomile Comfort mask. My skin is left glowing, bright, and super smooth immediately after one treatment. I liked this one so much, that I actually just purchased another box. (Best if used once weekly.) –$45,

2. philosophy Microdelivery Dual-Phase Peel

This oldie but goodie never lets me down! The Microdelivery Peel uses two steps to reveal fresh, smooth skin after just one use. First, you use the physical exfoliator (bicarbonate vitamin C crystals), then activate it with the gel (lactic acid). A slight warming sensation occurs, and you rinse it off after one minute. The results are pretty much undeniable. –$69,   [Read more...]

Have Great Skin with Kiehl’s, & Support the Public School of Your Choice through

I love a brand that makes great products, that’s for sure. But a brand that makes great products AND is philanthropic? They have my complete support! With the purchase of a limited edition product, Kiehl’s is making it possible to give $50 to a great cause—education. That’s something we can ALL get behind, right? Here’s how you can reduce fine lines, refine your skin’s texture, and help education programs at local schools at the same time!

I logged onto this morning, and was able to contribute to a special program at my own childhood elementary school, thanks to a generous donation from Kiehl’s. Come to find out, the teacher who is in charge of the program, was my fourth grade teacher from the eighties! Now that’s full-circle if I’ve ever seen it. It made me feel really good. You can participate too! [Read more...]

New from Simple…

For about two weeks, I’ve been using the latest moisturizer from Simple, the Protecting Light Moisturizer with SPF 15, and I’m happy to report that I’ve been quite satisfied with it. Simple landed here in the states last year, with an outlook that’s a little different than most drugstore products. All Simple products are free of dyes, artificial perfumes, and harsh irritants. They’re hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic, and pH balanced. Music to many of your ears, I’m sure!

Simple Protecting Light Moisturizer with SPF 15

I wouldn’t consider myself someone with sensitive skin, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t appreciated this great hydrator! I love that it’s oil-free, and that it absorbs super quickly. A lot of products with sunscreen tend to feel heavy or greasy on my skin, and I don’t have that problem at all with the Protecting Light Moisturizer with SPF 15. It really lives up to its name! For being so light, it still feels creamy—which is something I was worried about—because it doesn’t feel like it’s lacking anything at all. Plus, it doesn’t interfere with my makeup, so my skin is pretty satisfied. [Read more...]

Le Métier De Beauté Ultra Hydration Eye Mask Duo Review, Photos

Yesterday was my 37th birthday, and I know that they say a true lady never tells. But I’m actually okay with it! A little scary getting closer to 40, but all-in-all, I’m comfortable. I’m noticing however, that things are shifting on my face a little bit. Not too badly, but I’m getting more lines and crepe-yness under my eyes. (UGH!) Sometimes it requires a little extra effort to diminish them or conceal, and it’s getting tougher to do as time goes on.

After a late night and a few birthday libations, I awoke this morning to some under eye puffiness, a little darkness, skin dehydration, and my fine lines were kickin’! I figured it was the perfect opportunity to put the new Ultra Hydration Eye Mask Duo from Le Métier De Beauté to the test. Ready to see what it is and how it works?

The Ultra Hydration Eye Mask Duo is a set of seaweed-based under eye masks that deliver immediate hydration, reduce puffiness, deliver brightness, soften fine lines, and firm the delicate skin under your eyes. Get this—they work in just 15 minutes! They’re packaged in convenient, on-the-go, one-time use sachets. So they’re ideal for travel (when flying just sucks all the moisture from your skin), or just for rough mornings where you need to look your best and most well-rested. [Read more...]

Currently Loving: Shea Terra Organics Premium Dark Chocolate Sugar-Stone Exfoliating Cream

Ever try something from a brand, then feel bewildered because you wish you would have been using their products all along? That’s how I felt with my first experience with Shea Terra Organics. Their Premium Dark Chocolate Sugar-Stone Exfoliating Cream is the bomb dot com. And yes, I just said that. I’m serious.

Shea Terra Organics Premium Dark Chocolate Sugar-Stone Exfoliating Cream

You know those sugar and salt scrubs that leave you slip-sliding all over the tub? Unlike most body scrubs, this exfoliant is in a very dense shea butter/cream base. Inside the creamy shea base (which smells like brownie batter, by the way), there’s dark chocolate, organic sugar, and volcanic stone. This creamy blend of moisturizers and exfoliants leaves the skin super soft, and very smooth—without any oily residue. [Read more...]

Dial Lotion 7-Day Countdown to Noticeable Valentine’s Day Skin: Part 2

The easy keys to looking & feeling gorgeous on Valentine’s Day!

You might remember, that last week I decided to take part in the Dial 7-Day Moisturizing Lotion Challenge to see if it could really help get my dry skin on my arms and legs into shape to wear a dress by Valentine’s Day. Here we are, a week later!

Dial 7-Day Moisturizing Lotion is the first lotion of its kind to moisturize and keep skin soft for up to 7 days* (after an initial two weeks of use). Available in several varieties, I tried out two of them; the new Extra Dry Skin with Shea Butter formula, and Skin Therapy with Himalayan Pink Minerals. What amazed me about both of them, was how fast they absorbed, leaving non-greasy, weightless moisture on my skin that’s clean to the touch. The exclusive formula found in Dial 7-Day Moisturizing Lotion is infused with 7 bionutrients that address the specific needs of your skin, leaving you feeling soft and clean.

* after 2 weeks of use

On day 7, I’m happy to say—it was a success! My favorite variety was the 7-Day Moisturizing Skin Therapy Lotion with Pink Himalayan Minerals (84 key minerals to nurture the skin); but I also liked the 7-Day Moisturizing Extra-Dry Lotion since it’s so rich in shea butter. I don’t think you can go wrong with either of them. The driest areas of my arms and legs are in much better shape, looking more hydrated, and feeling softer.

In addition to having the softest skin from Dial 7-Day Moisturizing Lotion, here are some great ideas to make you look and feel great for Valentine’s Day…whether you have a date or not!

  • Prep your lips for a gorgeous pink or red lip color by exfoliating first! Take a few drops of extra virgin olive oil and mix with a pinch of granulated sugar to make an instant lip scrub. Your lips are now flake-free, ready for a sassy date-night lipcolor, and feel as smooth as your skin!
  • Treat yourself to a manicure and/or pedicure. This quick and often inexpensive pick-me-up is a girl’s best friend. While you’re at it, pick a vibrant red or punchy pink nail polish!
  • Avoid high-priced florists for the Valentine’s holiday. Get creative by buying a few inexpensive stems at a grocery store or farmers market, then create your own pretty bouquet to gift to yourself or a friend!
  • Wear that one perfume you save only for special occasions. We all have that one fragrance that we want to wear, but say we’re saving it for a special occasion. This is it, so wear it and smell gorgeous!

I hope you have a beautiful Valentine’s Day! Stay up-to-date with the latest from Dial by liking them on Facebook at!

Currently Obsessed: Meaningful Beauty Cindy Crawford Advanced Formula Lifting Eye Crème

I have to be completely honest.

I’m typically not too crazy about skincare products that I see on infomercials. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I’ve rarely had much luck with the products and gadgets I’ve purchased from those seen-on-TV deals, so I try to steer clear of them. But here’s where I’m wrong—Cindy Crawford’s Meaningful Beauty skincare line.

About a year ago, I was talking to a makeup artist and on-air beauty expert that I totally respect, and she told me she swears by the Meaningful Beauty Lifting Eye Crème. At the time, I filed it away in the back of my mind, making a mental note to try it someday. Back in December of 2012, it finally came to fruition, and I promise you…I have been obsessed with this eye cream ever since!

In my case, the Lifting Eye Crème has worked to smooth out a few of my fine lines, and it eliminates puffiness on those mornings when I wake up looking pretty haggard. I’m not so sure I need much lifting at this stage in my skincare game, but I can say that I feel this eye cream gently firming my under eye area after application. I’ve been using it morning and night since late December, and I have to admit—I think it makes a difference! Even better, it absorbs completely and quickly, without making my concealer migrate.
