Dial Lotion 7-Day Countdown to Noticeable Valentine’s Day Skin: Part 2

The easy keys to looking & feeling gorgeous on Valentine’s Day!

You might remember, that last week I decided to take part in the Dial 7-Day Moisturizing Lotion Challenge to see if it could really help get my dry skin on my arms and legs into shape to wear a dress by Valentine’s Day. Here we are, a week later!

Dial 7-Day Moisturizing Lotion is the first lotion of its kind to moisturize and keep skin soft for up to 7 days* (after an initial two weeks of use). Available in several varieties, I tried out two of them; the new Extra Dry Skin with Shea Butter formula, and Skin Therapy with Himalayan Pink Minerals. What amazed me about both of them, was how fast they absorbed, leaving non-greasy, weightless moisture on my skin that’s clean to the touch. The exclusive formula found in Dial 7-Day Moisturizing Lotion is infused with 7 bionutrients that address the specific needs of your skin, leaving you feeling soft and clean.

On day 7, I’m happy to say—it was a success! My favorite variety was the 7-Day Moisturizing Skin Therapy Lotion with Pink Himalayan Minerals (84 key minerals to nurture the skin); but I also liked the 7-Day Moisturizing Extra-Dry Lotion since it’s so rich in shea butter. I don’t think you can go wrong with either of them. The driest areas of my arms and legs are in much better shape, looking more hydrated, and feeling softer.

In addition to having the softest skin from Dial 7-Day Moisturizing Lotion, here are some great ideas to make you look and feel great for Valentine’s Day…whether you have a date or not!

  • Prep your lips for a gorgeous pink or red lip color by exfoliating first! Take a few drops of extra virgin olive oil and mix with a pinch of granulated sugar to make an instant lip scrub. Your lips are now flake-free, ready for a sassy date-night lipcolor, and feel as smooth as your skin!
  • Treat yourself to a manicure and/or pedicure. This quick and often inexpensive pick-me-up is a girl’s best friend. While you’re at it, pick a vibrant red or punchy pink nail polish!
  • Avoid high-priced florists for the Valentine’s holiday. Get creative by buying a few inexpensive stems at a grocery store or farmers market, then create your own pretty bouquet to gift to yourself or a friend!
  • Wear that one perfume you save only for special occasions. We all have that one fragrance that we want to wear, but say we’re saving it for a special occasion. This is it, so wear it and smell gorgeous!

I hope you have a beautiful Valentine’s Day! Stay up-to-date with the latest from Dial by liking them on Facebook at facebook.com/dial!

Currently Obsessed: Meaningful Beauty Cindy Crawford Advanced Formula Lifting Eye Crème

I have to be completely honest.

I’m typically not too crazy about skincare products that I see on infomercials. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I’ve rarely had much luck with the products and gadgets I’ve purchased from those seen-on-TV deals, so I try to steer clear of them. But here’s where I’m wrong—Cindy Crawford’s Meaningful Beauty skincare line.

About a year ago, I was talking to a makeup artist and on-air beauty expert that I totally respect, and she told me she swears by the Meaningful Beauty Lifting Eye Crème. At the time, I filed it away in the back of my mind, making a mental note to try it someday. Back in December of 2012, it finally came to fruition, and I promise you…I have been obsessed with this eye cream ever since!

In my case, the Lifting Eye Crème has worked to smooth out a few of my fine lines, and it eliminates puffiness on those mornings when I wake up looking pretty haggard. I’m not so sure I need much lifting at this stage in my skincare game, but I can say that I feel this eye cream gently firming my under eye area after application. I’ve been using it morning and night since late December, and I have to admit—I think it makes a difference! Even better, it absorbs completely and quickly, without making my concealer migrate. Dial Lotion 7-Day Countdown to Noticeable Valentine’s Day Skin: Part 1

Like clockwork, it’s this time of year when the skin on my arms and legs is usually at its worst. Since I know I’m going to wear a lot of pants and sweaters during our short bursts of California winter, I often forget to even wear lotion, until I look down one day and see how dry my skin really is.

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I want to get my skin in tip-top shape so I can wear a dress without showing off parched skin—and I’m taking a 7-day challenge with the new Dial 7-Day Moisturizing Lotions to see if they’ll deliver on their promises. This feature focuses on my initial first impressions with the lotions, and I’ll follow up next week with an update on final product performance.

What amazes me most about both of them so far, is how fast they absorb, leaving non-greasy,  weightless moisture on my skin that’s clean to the touch. The exclusive formula found in Dial 7-Day Moisturizing Lotion is infused with 7 bionutrients that address the specific needs of your skin, leaving you feeling soft and clean.

The first one I tried is the 7-Day Moisturizing Skin Therapy Lotion. This variety contains Himalayan Pink Minerals, which are known to contain 84 key minerals that nurture stressed skin. I liked this formula the best so far, mainly due to its fresh fruity-floral fragrance.

The second I tried is the 7-Day Moisturizing Extra-Dry Lotion with Shea Butter. This contains essential fatty acids and natural anti-oxidant compounds to provide extreme moisturizing capabilities. This formula has a soft, powdery fragrance that’s nice and subtle.

I’ll check in next week to update if my skin is ready for that dress on Valentine’s Day, thanks to using Dial’s new 7-Day Moisturizing Lotion. In the meantime, stay up-to-date with the latest from the brand by liking them on Facebook at facebook.com/dial!

Fab Find: Bioelements Lutein Indoor Protective Day Creme

Occasionally, I’ll come across a beauty product that’s unlike anything I’ve ever tried, which is kind of hard to do in beauty nowadays with so many choices! But this intelligent product from Bioelements deserves a little special attention. While we’re all doing everything we can to protect ourselves from harmful UVA and UVB rays by wearing sunscreen, there’s another ray that penetrates even deeper than cell-damaging UVA rays—the dreaded blue ray!

Blue rays can be responsible for causing free-radical damage that leads to skin dehydration and premature aging—but get this! It comes from sources that we don’t even think about. Chances are, you’re sitting in an office or room in your home right now, and your skin is being bombarded by blue rays. Indoor lighting and computer monitors are the guilty culprits of this kind of damage, and Bioelements’ Lutein Indoor Protective Day Creme is the answer.

Voted “Best New Beauty Innovation” by New Beauty, Lutein Indoor Protective Day Creme protects the skin against premature aging by blocking indoor environmental assaults and adding moisture. Lutein is a powerful antioxidant (derived from marigold petals in this case, which lends the creme its yellow color) that has been proven to filter out blue light—which is something the typical sunscreen can’t do! By using this as your daily moisturizer under your SPF product of choice, you’re able to take your skincare a step further. [Read more…]

bareMinerals Instant Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover Review, Photos

If you wear eye makeup, there is just no way around having a great eye makeup remover. And if you wear waterproof mascara? It’s not even an option! I hardly wear waterproof mascara, but I find that waterproof eye makeup removers work best for me, above all else. I need that oily-slip, it just feels more comfortable, with less tugging, and more complete. I recently learned that bareMinerals has released their own version, the Instant Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover, and I was happy to put it to the test!

Instant Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover is a dual-action formula that contains naturally-derived emollients, and a unique mineral complex to help bind moisture to the skin. What I found really interesting, is that this also contains a fruit-infused water blend of cucumber, kiwi, and apple. It’s formulated without parabens, synthetic fragrances, and artificial oils. Amarté Natural Finish BB Cream Review, Swatches, Photos

Finally, a real BB Cream!

I’ve been testing a lot of BB creams lately, but they’ve been more like tinted moisturizers with sunscreen. There’s nothing wrong with that—but when you’re looking for a BB cream, you really expect just that—a BB cream. Well, good news. I found one! Amarté was created in Korea and based in part on centuries old philosophies. Developed at a Bio Regional Innovation Center using leading science, the formula was discovered by American dermatologist, Dr. Kraffert, and introduced to the West.

Which leads me to introduce you to my new obsession, the Amarté Natural Finish BB Cream. The line is just getting its big break here in the U.S., so I expect to see more from them in the future; I also hear their skincare is phenomenal because it’s based on eastern philosophies, with American technologies to back it.  [Read more…]

Fab Find: McEvoy Ranch 80 Acres Lavender Olive Oil Body Balm

Inspired by the Tuscan Countryside…

In Northern California, there’s this amazing 550 acre ranch where beautiful olive oil is made. Olive oil from Northern California? Sounds odd, doesn’t it? But it’s true. At McEvoy Ranch in Petaluma, California, founder Nan McEvoy brought in experts and imported 1,000 seedlings from Tuscany, and boom! Fantastic, artisanally created olive oil from Marin County was born.

It was hard work, I’m sure—but so worth the reward, because they’re now producing six varieties of rich, certified organic olive oil. Some of which, goes into their 80 Acres line of bath and bodycare products. I’m enjoying trying the products out, but one immediately stuck out like a sore thumb as a Fab Find; meet the 80 Acres Lavender Olive Oil Body Balm

80 Acres Lavender Olive Oil Body Balm

This gorgeous, hand-crafted balm is 97% organically-sourced, and is comprised of an olive oil base that is 81% of the entire formula. This makes the dense balm immediately break down as body heat warms it, melding into a soothing blend of oils that nurture and intensively hydrate the skin. This blend of olive oil, jojoba oil, beeswax, and Vitamin E is rich in antioxidants, and is handcrafted from only the purest ingredients. The aromatic notes of lavender really sing in this product, in which I was surprised to learn is also harvested on the hillsides of McEvoy Ranch. They’re really utilizing every resource up there, and it sounds so beautiful—I’d love to visit!  [Read more…]

Review: MAC Mineralize Volcanic Ash Exfoliator

mac mineralize volcanic ash exfoliator

I’ve long heard the tales of the MAC Mineralize Volcanic Ash Exfoliator, but I had no idea what I was missing because I could never seem to catch it in its limited release spurts. I no longer have to worry about such things, because it’s finally permanent in the MAC core line—and I’m SO glad!

MAC Mineralize Volcanic Ash Exfoliator

What it is…

MAC Mineralize Volcanic Ash Exfoliator is a unique mineralized foaming, sugar-based scrub that contains the oil-absorbing properties of volcanic ash. The ash particles are ultra fine, so the grit in this exfoliator is actually coming from the sugar. The exfoliator is suitable for both face and body, and has a muddy appearance with a thick texture. There is quite a bit of fragrance in the product; I want to say it’s floral, but it almost seems fresh and masculine at the same time. You’ve probably got to smell it to see why I’m conflicted in the fragrance description. [Read more…]

Review & Swatches: Urban Decay NAKED Skin Beauty Balm

The latest in Urban Decay’s NAKED family is already causing quite a stir—and it won’t even be available until tomorrow. Ready to meet the new NAKED Skin Beauty Balm? I thought so! Let’s go…

Urban Decay NAKED Skin Beauty Balm

Branching out in the NAKED complexion department (and there’s more, just wait!), the NAKED Skin Beauty Balm is a BB cream in theory, but with a unique Urban Decay twist. While most BB creams hailing from Asia focus on coverage and correction, most U.S.-based BB’s have been considered more like tinted moisturizers.

Urban Decay’s NAKED Skin Beauty Balm is a complexion perfector in an optical illusion sense; with light-diffusing spheres that minimize the look of fine lines and pores, while smoothing the skin down to a velvety finish. NAKED Skin Beauty Balm also focuses on skincare properties—with anti-aging ingredients that promise to hydrate, firm, and smooth skin over time. Pair all of that with an oil-free formula and an SPF 20, and that’s Urban Decay’s version of a BB cream.  [Read more…]
