Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner (Relaunch) Review, Photos, Swatches

urban decay heavy metal glitter eyeliner collection

Bring out your inner glam rocker with the relaunch of Urban Decay’s Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliners! These originally launched years ago with five shades, but in addition to new packaging with this relaunch, you’ll find two new shades in the Heavy Metal lineup. I have to admit, even if glitter isn’t my thing, these are pretty sweet.

This revamped collection of seven shades features the same signature Heavy Metal formula—super ultra-fine glitter in a transparent gel base fortified with peach and cucumber extract to condition the skin, and carrot extract to smooth and soften. The packaging is a little different though. The revamped packaging has a decorative lightning bolt on the front of the tube, and the top is a shiny gunmetal cap with the UD logo embossed on the top. Urban Decay Shattered Face Case

Urban Decay’s first palette ever was a Face Case, but that was over 10 years ago, so I’m totally stoked to see the return of these multi-tasking wonders. There’s a second one, the Anarchy Face Case (Sephora exclusive), and my review for it will be coming soon (update: review is here). But in the meantime, see what makes this one my fave! Currently, these are all exclusive shades you won’t find anywhere else—with the exception of the eye liner and lip gloss pencils. [Read more…]

MAC Retro Matte Lipstick Collection Review, Photos, Swatches

mac retro matte lipstick collection

I love a good matte lipstick, and thankfully there are a few in the MAC Retro Matte Collection. These new shades have the same signature finish as the highly touted Ruby Woo (which I’ve been wearing for years), and last on my lips much longer than the average lipstick. Normally I’m stuck retouching every 3-4 hours, but with these Retro Mattes, I can get 6-7 hours of wear. Pretty impressive! On the flip side, these babies can be a little drying. They’re not quite as drying as other mattes I own, but I still experience it to a lesser degree.

Steady Going, Runway Hit, Dangerous, Relentlessly Red

Another positive—even though they’re a little stiff and dry, they seem to glide on a little smoother than other mattes, but I still have to use my lip brush for detailing my lip line. I usually don’t wear lip liner, but there are corresponding Retro Matte Lip Liner shades for those lip lining beauty buffs out there. Let’s take a closer look! [Read more…]

Jordana Cosmetics 12HR Made To Last Eyeshadow Pencil Review, Photos, Swatches

jordana 12hr made to last eyeshadow pencils

Jordana Cosmetics recently released their new 12HR Made To Last Eyeshadow Pencils at Walgreens ($3.99 SRP), and I’ve had my eye on them ever since. I’m so happy that I finally have them to share with you, I think you’ll find at least one you like—if not most of them!

The Made To Last pencils are chubby eye pencils that are super-creamy and long-lasting, with four being matte, and four having a shimmer finish. They’re water-resistant, and can be used as liners, eyeshadows, or eyeshadow bases, and require a chubby sharpener. Let’s take a closer look…

Eternal White, Stay-On Black, Tenacious Brown, Continuous Almond

The Made to Last Pencils are quite soft, so try not to push too hard with them, or they may smoosh. They’re not too soft, but I think they’re right on the border, so to be on the safe side—try to use a softer touch with them. It doesn’t take much pressure to get a lot of pigment! [Read more…]

First Impressions Review: Marc Jacobs Beauty Enamoured Hi-Shine Nail Lacquer

marc jacobs enamoured hi shine nail lacquer

A funny thing happened at the mall yesterday. I went there solely to get my rings cleaned, and wouldn’t you know there was a wait. During that wait, I figured I’d take a look inside Sephora—the operative word being “look”. 10 minutes later, I strolled out, bag in hand, with four Marc Jacobs Beauty nail polishes. Just like that. That place will get you EVERY TIME.

Flourescent Beige, Ultraviolet, Nirvana

This was my first time seeing the Marc Jacobs Beauty line in-person, and it’s super drool-worthy in my opinion. The longer I stood there, the more temptation I had to buy more. Ultimately, I picked four fall-friendly polish shades to check out. I’m a little over-eager to share these with you, so I’m afraid I haven’t been able to test wear time on these yet. The verdict is still out on that, but I can give you the skinny on everything else.  [Read more…]

Benefit Rockateur Blush Review, Photos, Swatches

benefit rockateur 1

As a fan of Benefit’s blush boxes, imagine my happiness when their latest one made its way into my hot little hands a little early! Rockateur will debut in stores next month, and this rose-gold blush is absolutely gorgeous. Dressed up in a racy lace and croc printed box with raised print and stud accents, Rockateur is all dressed up with everywhere to go!

Benefit Rockateur

Rockateur is beautifully decorative. The product itself is textured, with an initial icy-shimmer over-spray on the top and bottom of the raised “Rock” lettering. After a few swirls of my blush brush, the over-spray gives way to a beautiful satin-shimmer rose-gold shade that goes all the way through the product for just the right amount of iridescence. Too Faced Lip Injection Color Bomb Review, Photos, Swatches

too faced lip injection color bomb collection 2

I remember when lip plumpers first became popular. It was about 7 years ago (maybe even 8), and I was working for a cosmetics retailer. Some used cooling ingredients, and some used ingredients that stung with a combination of marine collagen. That effect is caused by dilation of blood vessels which would slightly make your lips pinker, and temporarily swell them. I was super obsessed with the sensation, and I was actually an early adopter of Too Faced’s Lip Injection Extreme, which was the latter. too faced lip injection color bomb collection 1

Years later, here we are with a new iteration of Lip InjectionColor Bomb—which is a combo of the original Lip Injection, and a chubby lip gloss stick. The Color Bombs have added hydrating ingredients; mango butter, Vitamin E, sweet almond oil, along with lavender extract. [Read more…]

Jenna Hipp What’s Hot Now Nail Collection Review, Photos, Swatches

jenna hipp set costcoOn one of my three trips to Costco last week, I couldn’t leave without this—the Jenna Hipp What’s Hot Now Nail Collection. I’ve never loved and hated a place so much in my life! They’re doing these cool collaborations with beauty industry pros, like Pati Dubroff, Orlando Pita, and in this case—celeb manicurist Jenna Hipp. I hope to try the others soon, but I had to share this one with you.

With shades like these for just $14.99, you know it was leaving with me. Unfortunately, that excitement was short-lived.

ZOYA Cashmeres Collection for Fall 2013 Review, Photos, Swatches

zoya cashmeres collection 2

Following up on the ZOYA Satins Collection, check out the second fall installment from this incredible polish brand—the Cashmeres Collection. With six new dreamy hues, they make me want to break out my sweaters and boots before October! (But that happens almost every year!)

Zoya Cashmeres Collection

Like most ZOYA shades, these all required two coats of color for full coverage, but some were a little more thin than others. I typically get almost a week of wear out of ZOYA’s regular shades (not including the PixieDusts), so I think it’s a quality formula overall and rarely have complaints. Let’s look at them a little closer! [Read more…]
