Nicole by OPI Tink Collection Inspired by Tinker Bell Review, Photos, Swatches

Nicole by OPI Tink Collection

Inspired by Disney’s Tinker Bell

This is a new collection from Nicole by OPI, inspired by one of my favorite childhood characters, Tinker Bell. The Tink Collection features six new limited edition shades, and I’m so sad I only have four of them to share—because I feel that the two I’m missing are what pull this collection together and really make it “Tink”!

The shade breakdown from Nicole by OPI:

  • Pixie Glitter* — This clear gloss is sprinkled with tiny rainbows.
  • How Fairy Nice of You!* — This sweet pixie pink gives me wings.
  • Tink’s in the Pink — This happy fuchsia makes me, well…happy!
  • Sweet on Pete — This lime green is the “key” to Pete’s heart!
  • Fairy Fairy Quite Contrary — Not, it’s NOT orange…it’s tangerine. So there!
  • Half Charming / Half Alarming — This coral is perfect when you’re feeling unpredictable.

 A few things I noticed…

  • Sweet on Pete is definitely a three-coater. After two, it was just okay, but needed a thin third to compensate for its thinner formula. This shade also stained my nails slightly, so I gently buffed it off.
  • Fairy Fairy Quite Contrary had a nice flow and consistency, and leveled easily. The first coat had me worried, but after the second and top coat, all was fine.
  • Half Charming/Half Alarming is kind of a chameleon. It’s like it wants to be a creme, but it’s not in my opinion. Not quite a jelly, not quite a creme, I’m dubbing this one a gloss. It has a thinner formula, but looks great after two coats.
  • Tink’s in the Pink is your typical creme formula, two coats for me, and all was fine.

Sorry for the delay and that this wasn’t up prior to the 18th, but I just received this on the 19th, and I’ve needed a good two days to tinker with it. Since I haven’t had it that long, please let this serve as less of a “review”, and more of a “first impressions” post.  [Read more...]

Nicole by OPI Gumdrops Collection Review, Photos, Swatches

nicole by opi gumdrops collection

This sugared-textured trend is going CRAZY right now! Do you own any of these types of polish? Typically, you don’t use any base coat (and noooo top coat or it will ruin the effect), and you get a sugary, matte-texture finish with a ton of twinkle. For summer, Nicole by OPI is staggering their release of the new Gumdrops Collection to certain retailers over the next few months. So let’s check ‘em out!

Jouer Cosmetics Summer Escapes Collection Review, Photos, Swatches

jouer cosmetics summer 2013 Collection

Summer Escapes Collection 2013

My love affair with Jouer didn’t take long to develop. From the very first time I was introduced to the line, my immediate thoughts were—elegant, timeless, and affordable. I haven’t been let down since! Each collection that has launched since my first impressions have incredibly remained all of the above. I kind of think of Jouer Cosmetics as an unsung hero, too. You may not hear about them as much as other prestige brands, often Jouer remains in a league of its own.

jouer components

Many of Jouer’s products connect for easy portability.

The founder and creator, Christina Zilber is totally hands-on with Jouer. After meeting her in-person, I can see her chic and classic touches all over this line! Aside from being a feminine and undeniably pretty collection, it’s also very practical. You don’t need to have pro makeup artist skills to blend her products’ pigments to perfection. Plus—most of the components connect so you can take your favorite Jouer pieces with you, and you don’t have to dig in your bag for them one by one. Can you tell I’m a Jouer Girl by now? Let’s check out the new collection!  [Read more...]

China Glaze Sunsational Collection Review, Photos, Swatches

china glaze sunsational collection

I hope this makes you laugh, but as I was unboxing the new China Glaze Sunsational Collection to prep it for swatching, my husband looked over and said he really liked the colors. Obviously, he just knows TOO MUCH about beauty in this house, because he commented a second time—hours later, when I was editing the photos. “Ooh, I really like that collection!”

I kid you not.

So this collection is already Mr. Beauty Junkies approved! But will it be Beauty Junkies reader approved? I’ll have to let you decide on that for yourself—but I’m happy to be able to bring you these 12 new shades.

China Glaze Sunsational Collection

Sunsational is like two collections in one. Six of the shades are jellies, and six of the shades are cremes. With that in mind, I’ve broken them down into two sections in the swatches, so you can see what shades are of which category. If you’re not a jelly fan, I urge you to steer clear of those shades in the store, because looks can be deceiving in the bottles. There were a few that I couldn’t even decipher from a creme until application—please keep that in mind and double check if you’ve picked a jelly or creme before purchase. [Read more...]

ZOYA Stunning Summer Collection 2013 Review, Swatches, Photos

zoya stunning collection

Now THIS is a summer collection! These new bright hues from ZOYA are going to be great mani/pedi shades for the warmer weather. A few of the shades almost strike me as neons, especially if you layer a white polish underneath them beforehand.

ZOYA Stunning Collection for Summer 2013

It’s unbelievable to me how ZOYA can keep their polish quality so consistent. You guys, I honestly can’t remember the last time I was disappointed in the flow or coverage of a ZOYA shade. I swear—I’m not on their payroll! But I’ve hardly ever had an unfavorable thing to say about their polishes. The coverage, flow, and consistency here with the Stunning Collection for summer is no exception. Yes, I recommend the entire collection!

This collection is comprised of cremes—but you’ll notice a little bit of a satiny shimmer in the bottles, this shimmer doesn’t really translate for me on my nails; with the exception of Thandie (orange), and Micky (pink-coral). My fave shade here? You should know I picked the bright pink, Yana! I’m not predictable or anything, right?

Here’s the shade breakdown, with two coats for each swatch.  [Read more...]

mark. Gloss Gorgeous Stay On Lip Stain Review, Photos, Swatches

mark gloss gorgeous collection

Like the look of a lip stain, but could go without the dryness they leave behind? Check these out—the Gloss Gorgeous Stay On Lip Stains from mark. Gloss Gorgeous is a 2-in-1 product, you’ll get the benefits of a stain with the look of a shiny gloss in one step.

mark gloss gorgeous

I’m a fan of this style of component for a lip product—it’s a brush tip on a clicker pen. It’s quick and clean, and makes applying on the go a snap. It takes about 10-15 clicks to get your gloss pen started, but only takes a click or two for an application. They’re available in eight shades, and I tried five of the fun shades: [Read more...]

Maybelline Color Show Polka Dots Collection Nail Lacquers Review, Photos, Swatches

maybelline Color Show Polka Dots Collections

I’ve got something super fun to share with you—the Maybelline Color Show Polka Dots Collection! Available in stores in July, these new lacquers remind me of a trend I’ve seen made popular by indie nail polish brands. I had truly never seen this until last year, but it’s the jelly “sandwich”. The polish finish usually has a squishy jelly texture, and there are multi-colored and multi-sized glitter particles sandwiched between those layers. It’s a pretty cool effect.

Maybelline Color Show Polka Dots

Maybelline Color Show Polka Dots Collection

With Color Show Polka Dots, there are five shades of milky jelly shades (one of them is a transparent base), with black and white glitter floating in the pigments. These are the first polishes I’ve owned like this to date, so unfortunately, I don’t have any dupe information to share with you right now. I just know that the shades I’ve seen like this usually cost at least twice as much as Maybelline’s $3.99 suggested retail price, and these are a little easier to get since you’ll be able to find them as drugstores soon. Ready to check them out a little closer?  [Read more...]
